Observations of Jason Gates (Clan Malkavian, Primogen):
Well, it was an intersting night, it started rather slow, but picked up when the Prince held court, and it broke up once the word came that the lights went out at the bridge.
Many Kindred left to go deal with this. The Keeper Sweeny, Adonis, Dr. Netchruch, Mr. Tim, and the rest stayed behind to talk of gentler pursuits, and we played chess. In my game against Dr. Netchurch, it became clear to me that I was not doing well, so(and I'm sure this will come as a surprise to all seeing the game) I cheated. I did. When no one was looking, I moved pieces. But it's not like we were playing cards or something. I eventually conceded when guilt overcame me, I didn't want to win with such a cheap victory. The Keeper and some others picked up the game and Adonis and I went for a walk.
We ended up in the middle of a fight. Adonis and I snuck up to the fight, where it seemed the Camarilla were hopelessly outnumbered by the Sabbat. The poor Toreador Primogen was staked on the ground being eaten by a Sabbat, while some person fired uselessly around his target, but not quite hitting it.
I'm not sure who was actually there, things were happening so fast, the air was thick with Vampires and Kindred alike. Things were moving so quickly, often you couldn't tell one from the other. Adonis valiently stepped to the forefront and demanded to know what was going on, and I went to the Toreador Primogen's aid. I was wary of two Sabbat that seemed to be hanging back, no doubt they were directing the battle efforts. My instincts were right, for just as I reached the fallen lady, one of them began to walk through the battle instilling fear into all who's eyes were foolish enough to meet his. "Don't look at your opponent...", my brother always used to say when we were children, "...run him through." The little man who was trying to save the damsel in distress(I'm sorry, I don't know what your name is) ran away, although I'm sure it was induced and not a display of cowardice. It then was up to me to see that the Toreador Primogen was not destroyed by the band of Sabbat who would have claimed her. Summoning up all my strength and courage, I attacked the Sabbat surrounding her. Fortune was smiling on me that day, and my efforts were rewarded. I managed not only to save the Lady, but also to take a prisoner. I was inspired during my labor by Adonis, who walked through the battle inspiring so much fear in those who attempted to attack him, that they fell down, crying tears of their dark blood. Had it not been for his presence that fight would surely have been lost.
I brought the fallen Primogen and my prisoner back to Elysium, where she was revived and he was turned over to the proper authorities. I must also applaud our new arrival to the city, Joseph, on his inspired screenplay. Already he begins to make a name for himself, and it will not go unnoticed.
And now, I must include a word to the wise at the end of my letter. This is not directed at anyone in particuliar, but events of the past Friday have shown, I believe, the best and worst of how situations can be handled. Please remember, that even in defense of the city, no...especially in defense of the city, this is OUR HOME. Fight to protect it, save it from invasion, but don't make it inhabitable in doing so. What good is protecting your haven from an invader, if it is destroyed in the process. Now to take that one step further, if your bodyguards save you from an assassination attempt(doing their job) but burn down your house in the process, they've endangered you and thus should be fired. Be careful who's toes you step on.
and now I'm done, happy trails everyone!
Observations of Ol' Eddy (Clan Malkavian):
Quite a night. First, I spoke with some members of my coterie about the results of some investigation I had done with our esteemed Nosferatu primogen, into the college students who had caused a fuss at the previous gathering. No slight to our esteemed Gangrel primogen, but I wanted to make sure that the suggestion hadn't been planted, and it seemed as though this possibility hadn't been checked. Thankfully, this investigation hadn't turned anything.
After this, the prince held court, and announced that the position of seneschal would be left vacant for the time being. An unusual decision, but not unheard of. I feel a bit sorry for Mr. Tran, our City Advisor, for he must now perform some of the more mundane duties of the seneschal in addition to his own.
Court was interrupted by news of an attack at the bridge, under cover of darkness. While our city's entire defense rushed to deal with this threat, I met with my clan to welcome a newcomer to the city. When this was done, we returned to Elysium, discovering that there was no way to follow the group which had left. I observed several games of chess following this, and spoke a bit with some of the Kindred remaining in the Elysium, until we recieved word that the Theater district was under attack. Thinking that the area was undefended, most of those still present left for the scene, but we arrived to find the situation in hand and nearly resolved. I aided in the cleanup, then we all returned to Elysium.
The body of Kindred was addressed by the esteemed Brujah elder Ivan, and was critisized for sloppy handling of the affair. One of the problems with Sabbat attacks is that it is standard policy for them to try and cause as many masquerade breaches as possible, and send a bunch of newly embraced cannon fodder, minimizing losses while maximizing damage. Since some of the Kindred in the city were unfamiliar with Sabbat tactics, many fell right into the trap.
A clan meeting followed, in which the newcomer was asked to pen the script to the movie which would form the cover story for the night's unusual occourances. After this meeting, I spoke with a few more Kindred, then took my leave.
A victory, but a tainted one. Let us now clense the taint by hiding the evidence.
