Synopsis: Session 3 - "Natural Selection"

Observations of Jacob Palmer (Clan Brujah, Primogen):

Major events ocured this evening. In the interest of saving time, I will make brief highlight of each.

-The Brujah met with our Elder, and discussed plans for the capture of Justin Connery. I informed the Clan that Mr. Jack Sterling, my childe and our former Whip would be returning to the city that evening and would be resuming his possition as Whip. Furthermore I informed them that with a suitable Whip to replace me, I would be submitting myself to our Prince for consideration for the possition of Senechal. Later the Prince annouced that he did not intend to fill that possition at this time.

-During court the Sheriff recieved a call informing him that an attack was occuring a the bridge. All able fighters were to proceed there immeadiatley. The city put forth an amazing response. I am proud to be a member of such a fine city. The sheriff, the gangrel primogen and myself, along with a few others went to a near by mall to quell a sabbat uprising we encountered there. The Sabbat wielded explosive incendiary devices that effectively nullified some of the weaker members of our party, allowing those stronger ones to fight unhindered by blockage. It was a team effort that succeeded very well, though it did mannage to incapacitate several fo the younger kindred... as far as I know everyone ended up surviving. Notable performances were made by the Sheriff who, in am amazing display of ability, staked one of the sabbat in a single blow that left him paralized on the floor. Also impressive were the performances of the Gangrel primogen, despite his indiscression in coice of times to transform, and a young gangrel in a cartoon shirt... St. Cloud or something like that. He deserves to be watched carefully. The Nosferatu also brought forth a rather impressive crocodile. Masquerade breaches aside, I'm glad the Nos are on our side.

-Other fights broke out, and were quelled. Apparently my childe chose that moment to make his appearance in the city, rushing in and "saving the day" so to speak. I heard it was impressive. I've heard some confusion about the Toreador Primogen and her rescue, several people taking claim for it... I may have to investigate that.

-Brujah Rant in which we compiled info for the city advisor and presented it as quickly as possible. I, for one, do not want my picture on the evening news with a giant crocodile and a polar bear and a bunch of decaying corpses... but hey, that's just me. I avoided making any masquerade breaches, controling my speed and feats of strength to negligable levels, but others were not so circumspect. good luck Mr. Tran.

that concludes my report. Thank you for your time.

Observations of Meyer (Clan Brujah):

Things start off kinda nice, business as usual, just meeting with the rest in court. (The Prince spoke to me! I feel all important or some junk!) Anyway, I happened to overhear the Sheriff getting news of trouble on the Bridge. I ain't been around for too long, but being around Sharp for a year makes you learn to see when the fits hitting the shan. We geared up and headed to the Bridge to go whup on some shovelheads. When we got there, Ivan was getting butch-woogie on the ones who hadn't made it through yet, and said some of them had gotten through to the Theater District. Later, clearer thinking would have said "Stay with the bigger group!" but that was way too deep behind our lines for them to be. So I swung around my Nova, and headed that way. (You might say "Why a Nova?" Three reasons: light, fast when properly treated, and forgettable.)

When we showed up, Sharp took Tyche, Dr. Wu, and Pierce inside the art gallery, while I stayed outside with the Tremere and the Torey. (I'm horrid with names, forgive me.) Of course, if we'd stayed outside and capped them at the door, things would have been much easier. But Sharp definitely don't do things the easy way. So he headed inside to do his dirty work, while we stayed with the car. We were just chilling outside when this guy came up and started giving the Tremere the Evil Eye. Sharp's used that one on me (once, and that's all I needed) so I recognized it and opened up my shottie on him. I caught the others in the spray, but I'd announced my pattern beforehand, and they were inside of it. Who's bad is that? Anyway, the Tremere got spooked and bolted just as two more guys popped out of nowhere and swung at me and the Torey. I freaked, tried to pop my guy, but he was closer than I thought and stepped past my barrel. He ducked out of the way of the second shot as well, and the Torey was doing worse than I was. The one who sent the Tremere packing started playing with the Torey, leaving the other two to deal with me. I was having a hard time, pretty much being the only thing in the area with some fight in him. The Tremere popped back in and helped out the Torey, kinda. I was starting to get more than a bit worn down 'til Jack showed up, blastin' away with those hand cannons of his. I never seen anyone move THAT fast! He popped the one the Tremere had dangling like a pinata, capped the bastard that'd been whacking me from the right. I snatched the stick from the one on my left and thwacked him with it until other folks showed up and put him down. I don't care who gets to count the kills, as long as they're dead and not coming back.

Just as that was all finishing up, I saw Sharp and Doc Wu come out of the gallery. Sharp told me to get Tyche outta there. I was just gonna come up, grab her out of the fray and head out, but she disappeared right in front of me! I mean, no puff of smoke, no haze, not even the cool teleporter noise or anything! Just gone! I took a sec to fully comprehend that, and got clocked on my nug for not remembering that there was a fight going on. After that, Adonis turned the one who snuck me into a bawling wuss, and the last one was all pinned down by everyone else. At that point, I knew deep down in my soul that I needed rest like a crackhead needs a fix. I kinda dragged my way back to the Elysium, fixing all the unpresentable little wounds on the way and slumped. After that we got barked at, like usual for frontliners, and we had to help clean up the mess that everyone made. Just another night in the trenches, far as I'm concerned. Just wish people would let me run the damn motor pool and stop getting beat on, but that ain't gonna happen. Anyone rethinking my offer of combat vehicles, feel free to drop me a line. Given enough time and incentive, I can make you anything you want. And that's all the news that's fit to print.

Observations of Raphael Emersen (Clan Brujah):

Not since my sire disappeared have I tasted fear like this. This was the night that I first saw combat as a vampire. "Anything that does not kill you can make you stronger, but only if you put it to that use, " my sire once said. This night may have left me battered and shaken, but I still "live", and lessons have been learned...

The night began quietly. Announcements were made, another ghoul of Conrad's was found dead. Everyone seems on edge about this Connery character. However, I'm sure everyone is also looking for opportunities in this threat. Everything has two sides in the world of the night, even I'm starting to see that, but I'm not naive enough to believe I have the resources or skills to take the initiative...at least not yet. Let things play out as they will and act when necessary, I thought.

The need for action came much sooner than I expected. My clan was holding another rant when we were told the Prince had arrived early and that court would be held immediately. Tension was high as court began, and it went through the roof when we were told about the assault at the bridge. All the clans immediately scrambled to meet this threat. Small teams formed to defend the various entry points of the city, but overall the actions of the whole was chaotic. We were reacting like a pack of enraged (or scared) wolves, and I daresay wolves might have shown better tactics.

I quickly grouped up with Mike and Meyer, the two Brujah that I had the most trust in. Mike had seen more than his share of combat, hopefully enough to make up for my inexperience. We were soon joined by the Toreador Primogen and Anton, the Tremere from my coterie. He too had never seen combat as a vampire. Somehow this was comforting.

Dr. Wu dealt out weapons to all of us while Mike tried to put together a strategy. It was suggested to them that I take a rear gun position until I pointed out to them my poor eyesight. I was then delegated to the front line along with Mike and Meyer, with Mike being point man. We then loaded into Mike's car and sped off for the bridge along with another group.

Upon reaching the bridge, we saw Ivan holding off a trio of Sabat single-handedly, literally. He told us that several sabat had gone down the street, splitting in two directions. Our group headed towards the Theater District, following a trail of carnage. Upon reaching the theater, we jumped out and the Mike, Meyer, a gangrel with a sword, Tyche and I ran in while the others stayed at range. Inside we were met with 8 Sabat, probably shovelheads. One seemed to be a standing back, a confident observer. Whatever he was, we didn't have time to contemplate it. Three of the Sabat immediately charged Tyche. Mike and I engaged them as well, but we couldn't keep them off the Primogen. Before we knew it, Tyche had been staked. We pressed the attack, trying to draw them off of her. Some of them broke away to attack us, but reinforcements arrived on the Sabat side and the fight became desperate. A Sabat jumped me from the side with a stake, forcing me to break from Mike's side for the rest of the fight. I later heard that Mike had to fend off four Sabat to protect the Primogen.

Despite my greater speed, my attacks were clumsy and my opponent nearly staked me twice before I got a single hit in. Fortunately, reinforcements arrived on our side - the Malkavian and Toriador elder. They were instrumental in turning the tide. Many strange things happened as a result of their appearance, but my fight was unaffected. I was bitten before I realized that I remembered my Dread Gaze ability. Soon after, the vampire was in full flight, allowing me to help clean up the remaining Sabat at range.

Our group returned to Elysium to lick our wounds and learn of what else had happend. Many mistakes had been made. Anton and Mike had both been wounded by friendly-fire from Meyer. Many breaches of the Masquerade had also been made, mostly by inexperienced vampires such as myself. An order was given by the Prince to transfer our influence to the City Advisor to "clean-up". There was also a general consensus that our defense strategies needed to be overhauled immediately. The clans then broke to discuss this amongst themselves.

If anything, this night has taught me that I am woefully inexperienced at combat, and that my skills will need serious improvement before I fight again. It may also be prudent to start carrying a weapon, and keep other resources close at hand. As to where I will fight, I am still not certain. My skills are not great, but they are not insignificant. I believe I will be playing "mid-field" from now on...
