Observations of Victor Tayback (Clan Tremere, Regent and Elder):
It seems quite fortuitous that I attended the Prince's Court last Friday. Much has happened that has disturbed the fabric of the Camarilla's presence in Windsor.
After meeting with a recent arrival of the clan, I was summoned to the Prince's side. I was to assist in the questioning of the Seneschal and Edith about a plot that had been uncovered months ago.
When the Sheriff arrived at Elysium with the staked bodies of Mr. St. John and Edith (how did he manage to avoid detection from the mortals while carrying 2 staked bodies?), most of the city was in attendance of the Prince's Court. The stakes were removed from Conrad and Edith, while most of the Brujah clan were watching the exit.
Conrad made the most unfortuante mistake of attempting to use his powers of seduction on the room, causing all but the Prince and I to hold him in such high regard that some were willing to argue in his defence. I was to act as a lie detector as the Prince questioned the conspirators. Much of what Conrad said was false, and Edith seemed to be very evasive when it was her turn to be questioned.
After many lies from the both of them, Prince Thorson subjected Conrad to the "Blood Eagle", an ancient form of punishment. It was only due to the vampiric nature of Conrad that he survived. Both were re-staked and taken away to wait for further questioning.
After the removal of the offenders, Prince Thorson decreed that Conrad and Edith were removed from their positions, and that he would choose their successors at the next Court. The looks of shock and (in some) avarice that flew around as the pronouncement sank in were humorous to watch, even if the humor was short-lived. One has to savour the moments when one can catch them.
After Court ended, I happened to speak to Adonis about his views of his clansmates duplicity. Thankfully, Adonis was in agreement that the traitors should be put to death, after more information could be gleaned from them.
Later in the eve, Adonis, Ivan, and myself journeyed to where the prisoners were being kept so that we might be better able to question them on the specifics of their heinous plot. Conrad initially fought against the questioning, seeking to deceive us further, but after persistant questioning, his will seemed to break and he spoke truthfully about the matter.
Edith turned to be a different story. She feared her destruction if she betrayed the confidence put into her by her co-conspirators. After pointing out that her destruction was assured if she continued to refuse to talk, she opened up, so to speak. It seems that the 3rd major party of this plot, a being operating under the name of "Justin Connery", is the motivating entity. Promises were made for the aid in attaining power for the Seneschal and Edith in exchange for later favors once their positions were obtained.
Many ideas and supposition has came up regarding Mr. Connery, but little hard fact. It seems that Mr. Connery is trained in counter-intelligence operations, as the bugs of their meetings were rendered useless. Rumors abound regarding his nature, his abilities, and his allegences, but nothing concrete other than he was to help destroy the Prince by contacting the Sabbat for an offensive. Given that there was no offensive, it would seem to indicate that it was all a set-up.
After conferring with the clan on such matters, the interrogations were continued into the night, nigh unto dawn. As of this point in time, the interrogations continue.
