Darkness Reigns LARP: House Rules: Hunting

All characters will start off with full blood pools at the beginning of each session (unless otherwise stated). Inside each character file will be an envelope with a number of slips of paper that denote blood points. These slips will have a session number on them and are only good for that particular session. When you use blood you will either give it to a storyteller or rip it up and throw it out (please don't throw them on the floor, put them in a trash can).

If you have depleted your blood pool to a point that you feel you need to replenish it please find a storyteller. Let him/her know how you would like to go about getting back some blood and they will make a note of how much time you will need to spend out of play. We suggest you go down to the MUG or some other place away from the game while this time elapses. After which you will need to find the same storyteller again and he/she will give you the blood points that you have gained. There are a few different methods that can be used.

(1) You can temporarily expend a point of your "Herd" background (if you have it) to gain back 2 blood points. For each point of "Herd" you expend you must 15 minutes out of play as you access them. The advantage of this method is that it is a guaranteed and safe source of blood you have access to.
(2) You can go hunting. The storyteller will perform an initial hunting test with you;
Win = Successfully hunted with no complications.
Tie = You have a chance to gain blood, but if you do you will risk a complication happening (storytellers discretion). You may negate the possibility of any complication and feed successfully if you temporarily expend a level of the "Hunting" ability.
Loss = Unsuccessful in hunting, you do not gain any blood and no complications happen. You may retest if you temporarily expend a level of the "Hunting" ability. By doing so you will treat a tie in the retest as a success without the possibility of complications.
If you successfully hunt you will perform another test to see how much blood you are able to get; (Win) 3 Blood Points, (Tie) 2 Blood Points, (Loss) 1 Blood Point. You will have to sit out of play for 15 minutes for each initial hunting test you perform with a storyteller (so if you hunt twice you need to sit out of play for 30 minutes).
(3) The Toreador have their clan advantage to fall back on to replenish blood also. See page 37 of "Laws of the Night, 3rd Edition" for how this works.
(4) Temporarily expending points of "Health" Influence can also get you blood. See page 99 of "Laws of the Night, 3rd Edition" for more on this.
