Darkness Reigns LARP: Game Introduction

Back to Main Page.

It has never been a more dangerous time to be a vampire...

The last four decades have seen many cities across North America change hands between the Camarilla, Sabbat and Anarchs. With so much conflict concentrated in one area it seems like it is only a matter of time before one of these battles among the shadows spill out into light, opening the mortal worlds eyes to the monsters that hide in their midst. If this happens... a new inquisition will no doubt arise and, using vast resources and technology unheard of a mere century ago, it will exterminate Kindred with such nightmarish efficiency that it will make the original inquisition seem like an mildly unpleasant dream in comparison.

Never in memory have the Camarilla and the Sabbat held cities in such close proximity, separated by only a river. These two cities have been the frontline of the Camarilla/Sabbat war for the past 30 years. The sect that controls them will open the door to sieze it's rivals territories throughout the entire northeastern section of the continent, which would lead to the eventual domination of the continent as a whole. The leaders of both the Camarilla and the Sabbat are aware of this and have fully commited the members and resources of their sects to taking both cities. Due to this importance the undead populations of both cities are well out of proportion to what would be considered acceptable, severly increasing the potential for discovery by mortals. To further complicate the matter, the river between the two is a mortal international border... granting each side a definite advantage in defense but an equal disadvantage in attacking. The leaders of both cities realize the potential disaster this situation could turn into for all vampires if they are not careful, so each has exercised the utmost caution in waging this hidden war.

Conflict breeds opportunity, and vampires more than any other being are quick to capitalize on it when it arises. Being self-serving by nature, most vampires only support causes when they have something to gain. While none will openly admit these ulterior motives, everyone involved has something to gain by being here. Their are a wide variety of powerful motivators present; duty, honor, loyalty, greed, fame, power and vengence to name a few.

In the end, who will reign from the darkness? The Camarilla, the Sabbat, or some other power?

With every answer uncovered, more questions inevitably arise...
