Christians VS. The Borg! Is Resistance Really Futile?

I'd rather be assimilated by this chick in the above picture anyday instead of being a christian again.

Have any of you ever noticed the way people have compared christians trying to convert people into their religion to the way that the Borg from the sci-fi television show Star Trek: the Next Generation (and Voyager) assimilate people? Many people (whether you are a huge fan of star trek or not) make jokes about christians being similar to The Borg in the way that they both recruit people into their "collective".

Those of you that have never heard of or watched Star Trek, the borg are a race of cybernetic beings that function similar to the way ants and bees group themselves together to work in a hill or a hive. These cybernetic beings recruit humans and any other alien races in Star Trek by capturing you, sticking you with tubes that come from their hands, to inject something called nanoprobes into your bodies to take over your cells and the rest of your body organs to turn that alien into one of them. The borg doesn't give you an option of being one of them or not. This race of beings are conquers. The borg also funtion as one mind. There is no individuality or uniqueness in the borg.

Sounds like something that most christians (especially fundamental christians) would do right? I mean most christians do strongly believe that their religion is right and no one elses. Then they believe that this religion should be for everyone, so they try their best to convert those not into their religious beliefs by constantly telling them about how Jesus will save them from hell and all this other crap. They mostly target those that are ignorant of their religion. Everyone in that religion does the same thing, like praying, follow the bible, etc all at the same time. No one does anything different, and even if they did, it have to be under there religious beliefs still and no one elses. Everyone does the same old thing over and over again. There is hardly any choice in that religion or spiritual beliefs. If you do something that doesn't have anything to do with the bible or do something that contradicts their religious beliefs, they'll probably start getting hostile and do who knows what to you. In short, uniquenes and individuality is almost non-existent as well. Heck, I have many christians that are bakers, barbers, police officers, etc that try their hardest to try to convert me into their religious beliefs too (and failed of course).

I see why some people joke about christians or other religious people being similar to the borg.

Seriously though, I would never compare the christians to the borg because here is why:
The borg assimilate people for the purpose of gaining knowledge and technology about other races, so they can conquer either the same race or other races alot easier (a perfect military tactic, know your enemy). Most christians do not recruit people to gain knowledge about anyone or anything. Most of them care about their beliefs and their myths and fairy tales, and pleasing a creator that doesn't exist by recruit people that do not believe in what they believe, and some of them won't take no for an answer.

Also, the borg do not believe in any deities, myths, faith, or follow some stupid book with pointless fairy tales in them, the christians do.

In short, at least the borg assimilate people and gain power in a smart way, by gaining knowledge and technology. Christians or any other religious people virtually do not. They assimilate and gain power by ignorance (or the ignorant) and by facts that doesn't exist. If I had a choice of being assimilated by either christians or the borg, I'd rather not be assimilated at all. If that is not an option, then I'd rather be a borg thank you very much. If you guys are going to make jokes about comparing christians or other religious people to the borg, my humble opinion is, try something else, because after all, resistance is not futile!
