1. When is another chapter of Sink to the Bottom With You coming out?

The first place I post an update is my LiveJournal, then I immediately post the new chapter on my website and upload it onto FFnet. If there is not an update in any of these three places, then THERE IS NO UPDATE. And if you really want to be on the ball as far as SttBWY updates go, then join my Yahoo!Groups mailing list so you don't have to keep on checking these websites. As for when a new chapter is coming out, I DO NOT KNOW. Things come to me, I write them, I post them.

2. If I send you lyrics, will you use them at the beginning of one of your fics/chapters?

I'm always happy to read suggested lyrics and even download the song itself, but I can't promise to use the lyrics in my writing. But send away. I'm always looking for new sources of inspiration.

3. Can you please beta/proofread/look over my fanfic?

No. Sorry, but I'm very picky about what I read and even pickier about whose work I beta. I usually have to know a someone on a personal level and have faith in their writing ability and their desire to become a good writer before I'll accept a request to beta their work. Besides, I'm sure you wouldn't want someone doing a half-assed job betaing your work because their heart is not into it.

4. Are you ever going to continue the Domestic Bliss Arc?

I purposefully left the arc open-ended so I can add fics at will, which I intend to do, but because my interest and passion for the GW fandom has greatly diminished, and I can't truly say when - if ever - there will be another addition.

5. Can you give me some tips on how to write good fanfiction?

I never know what to say when people ask me this question. What is considered "good" fanficton varies from person to person. All I do is list the obvious:

  • MAKE SURE YOUR CHARACTERS ARE IN CHARACTER - I really can't emphasize this enough. When you're writing, ask yourself, "Ok, given so and so's personality, would they REALLY do this? If someone asked me to explain their actions, could I? Am I making the character do this just because it's convenient or funny or because I want them to?" The last question is important because, well, I used to do it, too. Probably still do, actually. OOC-ness for comedic purposes can be good, but not when it's used without warning or is out of context with everything else.
  • TRY AND AVOID CLICHES - Think about the fandom you're writing for and what you CONSTANTLY see in fanfics. It's usually better to avoid rehashed plotlines, but of course, if you think you can take a cliche and write it in a interesting way, then go for it. Just be aware that your fic will be compared to all the other fics with the same or similar plotlines.
  • MARY-SUES - I strongly advise against them. Very strongly. A Mary-Sue is an original female character that usually embodies traits of the author, or is a personification of who the author wishes to be. Mary Sue plays a central or large part in the plot of the story and usually gets to have a relationship with one of the canon characters, especially the author's favorite character. Mary Sues are usually very beautiful and have many special abilities. I was guilty of creating of a Mary Sue, but Clash of the Titans has long since been discontinued so that problem is over and done with. Some original characters are enjoyable, but they are few and far between.
  • PROOFREAD YOUR FANFICS - I think this goes without saying. I know it's hard to catch EVERY mistake, but excessive amounts of typos and grammar slips will make a lot of readers laugh at your fic or abandon it in disgust.

6. Even though my question was on this list, can I still send you an email?

Of course! A fair warning, though: I'm horrible at replying to emails. I think I have emails in my Inboxes that have been sitting there for at least two months...if not more. :(
