Although I always promised that I would finish everything I started, some promises are just made to be broken. ;_; Yes, it's true. I'm going to have to discontinue this fic. I'm very sorry to those of you that were following it and hoping for more chapters, but I started working on this fic a long time ago, and my writing style has grown since then. However, this fic didn't grow with it.

The same ISN'T true with my other ongoing FF7 fanfic, "Sink to the Bottom With You," a monster of a fanfic that's 34 chapters and still going strong. There are major differences in my writing style in the first chapter of "Sink" and my writing style in the latest chapter. "Sink," more than any of my other fanfics, chronicles the evolution and ongoing maturation (I hope) of my writing technique. "Clash of the Titans," for some reason, just missed a vital step somewhere along the line and ended up left in the dust.

In this fic's defense, though, I have to admit that I liked some of the things I had planned for it. Maybe I'll use them in future fics? Who knows?

Also, another reason for my discontinuing this fic has to do with the "Original Character Factor." More often than not, main non-villian OCs are manifestations of the author or authoress' personality. They either are the author in the flesh, or they're someone the author aspires to be like. I was still testing the waters of fanfiction when I began this fic, and I didn't know well enough to avoid falling into this much overdone cliché use of original characters. I personally don't really like reading fics with OC/main character pairings, and I know many readers out there don't either.

Also, the plot device of an original female character being a long-lost experiment of Hojo's and developing a romance with one of the attractive male characters (usually Reno or Vincent) has been run WAY into the ground, and albeit an experiment wasn't Rena's true identity, much of the details thus far in this fic were pointing to that as being part of her past.

To make a long story short, even though this fic does have certain aspects that I wished to elaborate on, in the end I believe it's too flawed to continue. Maybe sometime in the future I'll scrap and revamp it so it'll suit my palette better, but for now, I'm declaring it dead in the water with no hope of resurrection.

Sorry, everyone. ;_;
