1. Reboot.
   
   
2. Make sure that the dialer and network control panel configurations are valid.
   
   
3. Rip and reinstall the network components (unless the user is on a LAN, then have them talk to the sysadmin).
   
   
4. Refer to manufacturer/sysadmin.
