Brian Deneke was a "different" individual that lived in Amarillo TX. He had a blue Mohawk and wore torn up jeans and tees. He was a punk. According to most ppl he was not your "normal" teenager. But Brian was one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. I know I sure want to meet him. Well he and his friends took a lot of shit from the "normal" teenagers because they were different. Then one night the punks and the preps got into a fight. Not like this hasn’t happened before but this night it ended very differently. No one really knows EXACTLY what went on but what we do know is that at some time during the night a boy names Dustin camp got in his car with a few friends started it up and followed the crowd to a parking lot across the street. Then depending on who you ask there was either a punk or prep on the ground having the shit beat out of him. It was at this time that Dustin turned his car around ran up on the median said "I'm a ninja in my caddy" and ran right over a punk... on purpose... said "I bet he like that" and went home. The punk turned out to Brian Deneke. Brian's brother Jason immediately ran over to Brian and cradled him in his lap. That would be where Brian would die. His front teeth were broken. A deep gash ran down the left side of his face. His left shoulder was ripped out of joint and an autopsy would reveal that his skull, spine, pelvis, and several ribs had been crushed. None of the preps stopped to see if he was all right or even cared. The whole punk scene would turn to each other for support and comfort. Most of them remained drunk for a long time. Dustin camp was allowed to finish his high school education before a trial. 2 years later the trial finally started. Camp’s attorney put the focus on Brian’s choice of a life style instead of what Dustin did. He said in his opening statement "This is not a case about diversity or tolerance or judging people by the way they dress. This case is about a gang of young men who chose a lifestyle, unorthodox as it is, designed to intimidate those around them, challenge authority, and provoke reaction from others." he then went on to bring up any and every thing he could to show how Brian was a drunken violent "goon" and that Dustin was a "good kid". He also brought up the subject that "The law allows the use of a deadly weapon in defense of a third person, but only in the situation where deadly force is being used against the third person." and that that is what Dustin camp had done, used his car to save a friend from being killed. After all this Dustin camp got 10 years PROBATION and a fine, that is ALL!! PROBATION FOR MURDER!!! That must be great for him you say? Well listen to this he has to be home by an astonishing 10 o'clock every night and he cant even go hunting or partying, poor baby. When he goes to the mall people point and stare at him like he was a "freak". This is even WORSE on Mondays he has to go to an anger management class. So what, someone was only KILLED. "They think because he murdered someone, he's a bad person," one of his friends says. It’s a rough life for Dustin camp isn’t it?
