A Star Wars Infinities Campaign

The Dark Horse Comics title Star Wars: Infinities explored the great question of what if this happened or never happened in the Star Wars films.  While the comic series focused on events in the Rebellion Era if Luke Skywalker’s shot missed at the First Death Star, this campaign instead will focus on different pivotal moment in the Star Wars movies.  What if ISD Devastator’s gunners destroyed R2-D2 and C-3PO while they were helplessly drifting towards Tatooine’s surface aboard the escape pod from the Correllian Corvette Tantive IV
Divided into three eras, this Infinities campaign takes you on the probable events that I have set forth here.  I have tried to focus on major events, however occasionally I do break down into specifics.  The first major era is the Rebellion Era.  Simply put, the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance are waging war to see if the ways of the Republic shall be restored or will Palpatine's New Order reign as a new Sith Empire.  The Redemption Era is just that, a time brought on by the redemption of several pivotal Dark Jedi.  The time after is the called Redemption Era becaus it is one of healing, rebuilding and the re-establishment of many Republic traditions with reforms built in to avoid old disasters.  Finally, the New Jedi Order happens.  The NJO starts with the invasion of the extra-galactic invaders the Yuuzhan Vong.  This era gets its name because it is a new generation of Jedi who were born as the Galactic Civil War (Rebellion) was winding down or at the start of the Redemption Era.  If anyone would like to know about a specific event in the time line I have set forth, please E-mail me and I will give a prompt response.

What if ISD Devastator’s gunners destroyed R2-D2 and C-3PO while they were helplessly drifting towards Tatooine’s surface aboard the escape pod from the Correllian Corvette Tantive IV?

This is the key concept of the campaign.  Remember, causal events are no longer the same, so events that occur in the moives don't happen to characters in this campaign.  Some however cannot avoid destiny.  Other events still happen because no matter what, they occur due to nature of the character, nature, or are independent of the causal events.

Rebellion Era Synopsis
The Alliance to Restore the Republic (Rebellion) had a small fleet that was able to keep from any major entaglements with the Imperial fleet unless the Rebels initiated it.  However, after the captuer of Leia Organa in the Tatooine System, the Death Star destroyed Alderaan.  This drove many planets into the Rebel Camp.  Soon after a hero from the past, a Jedi and former general in the clone wars re-appeared, Obi-wan Kenobi with a cocky Corellian and his Wookie partner saying more help would be availabe from time to time.  Aided by Clone War General Obi-Wan Kenobi, A Jedi Knight, other Clone War officers, defectors, and former senators, the Alliance only had one true tactical advantage over the Imperial forces, The X-Wing starfighter.

Six months after Gen. Kenobi's return from the dead, a mysterious Jedi aprentice appeared as well with chief Rebel Operative Han Solo and Chewbacca.  He was being trained in secret by another Jedi Master, Yoda.  One Rebel Officer, Red Group member, Biggs Darklighter reckognized him as Luke Skyalker.  This further inspired the Rebellion's cause by saying that the last of the Jedi of the Old Republic were now standing with them as well as the Jedi that would come to serve the future generations.

Every six months Luke Skywalker would appear just before a critical mission, each time more powerful than the last.  Eventually, the Empire set a trap to crush the Rebellion hearing of intercepting their key plan to destroy the Death Star and its now completed twin on station at Kuat.  Death Star I was to be on patrol through the Naboo system, when the Rebels were going to launch against it.  The Second Death Star would be there as well, with 2 Super Star Destroyers, and dozens of other ships.  Brilliant adjustments by Adm. Ackbar, Gen. Dodnana and Gen. Riekan saw the trap being reversed and eventaully clearing the way for Luke Skywalker to destory both Death Stars by a little known weak spot gained from a daring raide on Coruscant just months before.

Many systems now rebelled openly against the Empire.  The Emperor and his cadre of Dark Force users withdrew from Coruscant to the Deep Core World of Byss.  The Alliance invaded Coruscant, capturing many top aides.  A final battle was planned by Jedi Masters Yoda, Kenobi and Skywalker to take Byss and end the war.  While the fleet engaged the last of the loyal element of the Empire in the Byss outer system, the Jedi Masters were inserted on to Byss.  Dealing easily with any force user to face them, a horrific climatic battle took place.  In the end, Darth Vader betrayed Palpatine and became Anakin Skywalker.  The Redemption Era began.

The Redemption Era
The Redemption Era was filled with the restoration of the principles of the Republic.  Many reforms were made to make sure an Imperial Era would never happen again.  Luke Skywalker began the task of rebuilding the Jedi Order by first redeeming the surving Dark Siders and training the few Force-Sensitive  members of the Alliance he had met.  The mop up operation takes less than five years.

Han Solo takes his task force and obliterates the Hutts for causing him much personal pain.  He then resigns his comission to live a life of solitude as Luke Skywalker's quartermaster and shuttle pilot.  President Mon Mothma proposes to use the smugglers that helped the Alliance become the new Trade Federation, paying no tarrifs on any good transported between any world for flat fees but having no representation in the Senate.  Anakin Skywakler turns over much information that unearths just the scope of the brutality of Palpatine's reign.

Five years after the Redemption, Luke Skywalker proposes forming a formal Jedi Academy for the training of new Knights.  He however is inspired by his wife, and his sister Leia Organa to broaden his Academy to teach all interested in methods of philosohpy, ethics, politics, public policy, history etc.  Many of the Redemption Jedi have married each other and are now having children of their own.  A new class of Jedi Knights begins study.  The Republic has normalized relations with the Hapans, Chiss, and has welcomed the Noghri in as a member species.  It is agreed that a centralized military will be kept.

Ten yeas after the Redemption the Skywalker Academies have located branches on Coruscant, Dathomir, Myrkr, and Ord Mantell.  The Jedi train primarily on Dathomir but are required to spend at least one semester (six months) on Myrkr.  The Republic is now led by President Reikan, a former Alliance general.  The peace and prosperity is on par with the legends of the Old Republic.

Fifteen years after the Redemption, the Skywalker Academies have opened up four more satelite schools and now are a fully acredited university system with the Jedi Academy being a specialized school that teaches to all ages.  Now, most Jedi canadates are brought as children or young teens.  The Republic is now presided over by a Bothan Borsk Fey'lya.  A new generation is emerging, one that was born very late into the Rebellion and barely remembers it.  The Smugglers Trade Federation is proving more efficient and less corrupt than the old Trade Federation of the Nemiodians.  Aproximately 75% of the known galaxy is a member world, has diplomatic relations with, or is seeking to become a member wold of the Republic.

Twenty Years after the Redemption , a small number of Jedi have fallen to the Dark Side and are dealt with swiftly by the remaining Jedi.  The number of adult Jedi stands aproximately at 100, with 150 or so teenagers completing advanced studies, and close to 1000 children studying to be Jedi.  Duros Ellor Madak, a former Smuggler's Trade Federation member, is now the president with the promise of finding more streamlined way of moving goods of need and value from world to world.  These measures create such an interdependency that worlds no longer suffer famines.  The poverty gap actually decreased during this time.  The first generation of non-Redemption Jedi Knights graduated.

The New Jedi Order
Twenty-five years after the Redemption, a group of extra galactic beings called the Yuuzhan Vong enter the galaxy via the remote Tingel Arm.  If not for a Jedi patrol, which lost all members but its Master/leader, the galaxy would know nothing of this invasion.  The Yuuzhan Vong are the antithesis of the galaxy.  They abhor machines, demand sacrifices to their gods that include self-mutilation and deaths of others.  The younger generation of Jedi, now close to 200 full Jedi, with aproximately 400 or so aprentices, and nearly 2000 children canidates, move to stop them.  The Redemption era Jedi warn against naked agression.

The Jedi are not enough to slow the superior size and new bio-technology of the Yuuzhan Vong.  They destroy or spoil several worlds and come to control a conical section of the Tingel Arm to Hutt Space up to the Mid Rim Worlds.  It is here that the Republic Draws a line and lets many of it's older heroes lead along with the new generation.

After finding a psychological flaw in the Yuuzhan Vong, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organ challlenge (taunt./dare) the Yuuzhan Vong Warmaster Tsvaong Lah and Supremem Overlord Shimrra to capture/do battle against them on the fallen world of Dathomir.  Here, Luke Skywalker reveals the true power of the Force and the war is won.

A new Jedi Council is formed with a mixture of Redemption and New Jedi on it.  The Republic works to rebuild and the galaxy goes on without one of its greatest heroes.
