Cosplay Fun
The sailor moon fans were dressing
up the day of the cosplay convention. The sailor senshi had already transformed into their sailor senshi uniforms. "Wow, your costumes look very
authentic," commented Emma.
"Who the heck are you guys
supposed to be?" asked Carr, referring to Sailor Earth, Star, Parallel
Moon, Virago, Tsukineko, Menard and Kurozuki.
"Oh, um..just some of our own sailor senshi
creations," replied Lutina.
"Hmm, you guys have quite the
imagination," complimented Carr.
There were people dressed up as
characters from all kinds of anime. The sailor senshi
didn't recognize who many of them were supposed to be. "This is a rather
weird party; but the food is good," said Jun Jun.
"We should be at the moonie headquarters trying to find out more about
ambassador Uranus," said Chibi Usa.
"We've been researching that
boring stuff a lot lately. Let's just have some fun now," suggested Kousagi.
Twenty fat men dressed up as sailor senshi arrived. They pushed people down on their way to the
stage. Six of them stood on stage with a microphone saying, "We are the
sumo senshi. We have come here today to fight the
real sailor senshi, who are among you. Show
yourselves and we will spare everyone here."
"Sumo senshi?"
said Diana.
"Get ready to confront
them," instructed Chibi Usa.
Before the sailor senshi could do anything, the sailor moon fans and other cosplayers gathered together, fighting the sumo senshi. It didn't take long for the floor to be filled with
beaten bodies. "Should we do something?" asked Ves
Ves.
"Let's just see how things
settle out. We didn't have to intervene last time," suggested Drana.
The sumo senshi
used their sumo chop, sumo squat, sumo hug and sumo charge attacks against the cosplayers there, injuring many. The cosplayers
weren't without their victories, however. Only the six leaders of the sumo senshi remained. They were Touki,
Chiyotaikai, Chiyotenzan, Zenshinyama, Asanowaka and Mitoizumi.
"Why aren't you helping us? Our
best fighters, Amsteel and Roanoke, are unconscious. We need all the help we
can get," said Emma, running to them.
The sailor senshi
hesitated for a minute. "We're type "A" sailor moon fans,"
replied Chibi Usa.
"I understand that, but when
push comes to shove, everyone needs to fight. I'm going to get more
reinforcements," said Emma.
"Don't use much force. These
are just normal humans; and we want to keep a low profile," warned Drana.
"This should do the
trick," said Sailor Palus, using her Gummy Ball
attack. A small, blue ball landed on the ground, opening up. A bunch of pink,
sticky gum burst out of the ball, covering the sumo senshi.
They were stuck in their tracks.
Emma saw what happened and was
shocked. "What...what was that? That was incredible!" said Emma.
"Oh, uh, some parlor trick I
learned at the circus," replied Sailor Palus.
"Nobody I know could ever do
something like that. You guys are the real deal, aren't you? You are sailor senshi? I can't believe it! This is so awesome! I've met
the real sailor senshi," said Emma, fainting.
"Oh boy, our secret's
out," worried Sailor Star.
"We'll deal with that later.
Let's get her back to headquarters," said Sailor Chibimoon.
Emma regained consciousness the next
day. She began to slowly recall what happened the day before. She approached
the sailor senshi privately saying, "I'm so
excited that I met you. Don't worry; your secret is safe with me."
"If anyone else finds out, we
won't be able to accomplish what we came here to do," replied Chibi Usa.
"Are you guys on some secret
mission? Please, do tell," said Emma, excitedly.
"Well, maybe we
shouldn't," said Chibi Usa.
"Actually, she may be able to
help us with our objective," said Lutina.
"What is your objective?"
asked Emma.
They told her the situation.
"I've never heard of him. You're sure he's somewhere around here?"
asked Emma.
"From what our best sources
tell us," replied Ves Ves.
"He probably sent the sumo senshi after us," thought Drana.
"We haven't been able to get
any information out of them," said Cere Cere.
"Then I guess they'll still
have to be stuck in a big gummy mess," said Palla
Palla.
"Sumo senshi..that sounds vaguely familiar. I know I've heard of them
somewhere before. Carr could really help us out with his internet researching
skills. I could ask him for help without telling him anything else. Is that
ok?" asked Emma.
"That will be fine,"
answered Chibi Usa.
The anime convention would end the
following Saturday. Emma and some other sailor moon fanatics showed the sailor senshi around the convention. At the end of the day, they
returned to the moonie headquarters to see if Carr
had found anything. "Any luck?" asked Emma.
"I found a few sites mentioning
them. After checking the Save Our Sailors website (SOS), I remember that is
where I first heard about them," answered Carr.
"Of
course! The SOS did write an article on
them a long time ago," remembered Emma.
"I found out that some of the
people who ran that website lived here, in California. I believe it's somewhere
close," informed Carr.
"That's great. We'll have to go
there when you find the location," said Emma.
"Are you sure all of the moonies should go?" asked Carr.
"You're right. It will bring
back harsh and bitter memories for some of them," agreed Emma.
"We'll keep it between
ourselves for now. The moonies are too divided on
their opinions about the SOS," said Carr.
"Some of the voice actors of
the English dub of Sailor Moon will be at the anime convention till the end of
the week. We can ask them if they know anything about SOS headquarters. I think
they have visited there in years past," suggested Emma.
"Good idea," agreed Carr.
Chibi Usa got
permission to use the computer to learn more about the SOS organization while
the others went with Emma to the convention.
Emma spotted a tall anime girl with
light brown hair in a pony tail. She was wearing a
see through blouse and very short shorts. "Maki?
Is that you? It's been a while," said Emma, hugging her.
"I'm sorry, do I know
you?" asked Maki, seeing a plain looking girl's arms around her.
"I am Emma, one of the faithful
moonies who has come to these anime conventions for
the last eight years in a row."
"Oh, you're one of those
people," said Maki, hesitantly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, let me
introduce everyone." She introduced Maki to the sailor senshi.
"This is Maki, everyone. She
worked for VKLL for years. They were a Canadian fansubbing
and distributor service, allowing moonies like myself
a chance to see unreleased episodes of Sailor Moon in the English speaking
world. They were a godsend. So, what are you up to nowadays?" asked Emma.
"I got an acting job after VKLL
shut down. I've been playing various parts in different anime projects,"
replied Maki.
"It's really nice to meet you,
but we really should be going," said Diana.
"Yes, we're looking for those
Canadian voice actors who worked on Sailor Moon a long time ago. Have you seen
them?" asked Emma.
"They're around here
somewhere," said Maki.
"I love you," said Emma,
hugging Maki tightly. Maki laughed nervously, hoping Emma would leave soon.
The voice actors were already
closing up, getting ready to leave. The only voice actors there were Terri
Hawkes, Jill Frappier, Roland Parliament, Sabrina Grdevich, Tony Daniels, Kirsten Bishop and Naz Edwards.
"Hey, where are you guys going?
The anime convention isn't over until a couple more days," said Emma.
"It's pointless to come to
these things anymore. Almost nobody outside of Canada even knows who we
are," replied Roland.
"Give it a rest already. Move
on like everyone else has. You sailor moon fanatics are a little creepy,"
said Terri.
"Hey, treat us nicer. We help
keep your careers alive," said Emma.
"Whatever. Nobody's even seen
what other films we've been in," said Terri.
"We're not here to talk about
your dying careers that have been flushed down the toilet; we're here to ask
you about what you know about the SOS organization," said Tari.
"My, you are quite the people
person," said Anna.
"I don't beat around the
bush," replied Tari.
"What about it? It was just
some place filled with silly people obsessed with Sailor Moon, just like
you," said Tony.
"But you've been there, right?
Where are their headquarters?" asked Emma.
"I don't remember. In some
small room in a college around here," replied Tony.
"That's right. I remember their
URL used to end in ".edu"," said Emma.
"If that's all, we'd like to
finish packing up and get back to our country," said Tony.
"Aren't we mister grumpy pants?
I'll see you all next year at the convention. I'm still missing a few
autographs from your fellow Canadian voice actors. Remember, we still love you
even though the English dub sucked," said Emma.
"That's it, we're not coming
back next year," said Jill.
Chibi Usa and Lutina were reading something on a website with a look of
fear and disgust on their faces. "What's wrong?" asked Diana.
"We've been reading some
transcripts from the English dub of Sailor Moon, and it's quite scary,"
said Lutina.
"Listen to some of the dialogue
for the English version: "weren't you just bored to snores?",
"Can it, unless you want to be mashed into meatloaf!", "Yeah,
you're majorly toasted, surfer boy," said Chibi Usa, reading some excerpts.
"DIC is evil," realized Lutina.
"What crappy dialogue. Who
talks like that? Anyways, did you guys find out anything?" asked Diana.
"Yes, apparently SOS had fund
raising campaigns way back when. They tried getting people to by unfrosted
strawberry poptarts, luna balls and other things. They encouraged people
to buy those things in order to get more episodes of Sailor Moon dubbed in
English. They had an agreement with those companies that produced those
products to give them 15% of all of their profits for that time period for
getting people to buy their products. They probably used that money to help
fund the space program. It is very possible, since we do not know how long they
have been gathering funds for it," informed Lutina.
"Did you guys have any
luck?" asked Chibi Usa.
"The SOS was located in a
college nearby," informed Emma.
"That may be where the
ambassador is," thought Kiusakun.
"Great, let's check it out
first thing tomorrow," suggested Ves Ves.
