start Microsoft vs. AOL Time Warner -- Chris || Post in the forum

Sounds good to me to let the two go at it.

Consider what Microsoft and Viacom are up against: the world's largest ISP; its Web radio service Spinner; the Net music player Winamp; AOL's MusicNet online subscriptions alliance with RealNetworks, EMI Recorded Music and BMG Entertainment; Radio@AOL, an online radio station to be built into AOL 7.0; and a newly focused AOL Music division under former BMG Entertainment executive Kevin Conroy.

You can read more about it here

So Microsoft and MTVi maybe getting together to help ward off some AOL users. But I never did like MTV (or anything to do with it) in the first place (VH1 is the way to go). Oh well, what are you gonna do? Take it or leave it - I say take it.

Why do they call "America Online" what it is. It's not just America that uses it, it's more like the rest of the world. I'm sure users of AOL outside of the United States are thrilled by that name - as well as the service.

And if they go into music sharing, they run the risk of sharing the same fate as Napster did back in the day. But then again, AOL Time Warner has a crap load of loot lying around.
