OBI-WAN watches as empty landscape zip by.
MEDIUM SHOT - SERVICE DROID
The SERVICE DROID moves along its track. It announces its
message to the three in the tram.
SERVICE DROID
Attention. Attention. Now approaching
Aurora Station. Last stop. If
travelling to Essex Point, you must
continue via alternative means.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI
The SERVICE DROID passes by OBI-WAN.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN glances up at the DROID.
EXT. G PRIME - AIR BUS - MEDIUM SHOT
The air bus docks with a series of rings, Aurora Station.
INT. G PRIME - TRAM STATION - WIDE SHOT - AIR BUS DOORS
The doors of the air bus hiss open.
MEDIUM SHOT - AIR BUS DOOR
The TWO SOLDIERS exit the tram. OBI-WAN follows soon behind.
MEDIUM SHOT - REPUBLIC SOLDIERS AND OBI-WAN KENOBI
The three walk away from the air bus, along a floating
walkway, toward the CAMERA.
The doors of the air bus snap shut and the vehicle shoots
back toward the Baudway.
The three approach the CAMERA.
As they pass by, the CAMERA rotates to keep them in frame.
They walk away, toward a large lift tube.
MEDIUM SHOT - REPUBLIC SOLDIERS AND OBI-WAN KENOBI
The CAMERA, closer to the lift tube, watches as the three
enter into it.
The transparent blue doors slide closed.
INT. G PRIME - LIFT TUBE - MEDIUM SHOT
We see out of the lift tube, behind those in it.
The platform briefly vibrates as the atmosphere inside is
adjusted.
It is then sucked down.
We see out as the platform is sucked down several thousand
meters.
EXT. G PRIME - LIFT TUBE - MEDIUM SHOT
The platform zips by the CAMERA.
INT. G PRIME - LIFT TUBE - CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN glances about.
WIDE SHOT - GARDEN
We see out of the blue walled tube, fast falling.
We see their destination, the new military capital. It is
the heart of the Garden... the Garden itself.
It is a mammoth silver complex, composed of concentric rings
and spires. A citadel reaches out of its center.
INFANTRY FORMATIONS, specks, march about. ARTILLERY DROIDS
plodder along.
EXT. G PRIME - LIFT TUBE - MEDIUM SHOT
The CAMERA moves with the platform inside the blue tube.
It reaches the bottom, the street level.
EXT. G PRIME - SILVER ROAD - MEDIUM SHOT - LIFT TUBE
The CAMERA is at the bottom of the tube. The doors slide up.
We see the boots and shins of those inside.
The platform levitates six inches from the bottom of the
tube, a powerful maglev force under it.
The TWO SOLDIERS walk out.
OBI-WAN is still inside.
The CAMERA lifts up.
It stops with Obi-Wan's head and chest on screen.
The CAMERA then pulls back as OBI-WAN exits.
The CAMERA continues to pull away, OBI-WAN getting smaller as
he walks.
WIDE SHOT - GARDEN
We see the Garden.
OBI-WAN, his back to the CAMERA, stands before it.
Its concentric silver rings and spires all reaching up,
around a central pinnacle.
Tiny blue and white lights beam out from the Garden.
Small areas on the underside of the Garden appear bronze and
gold.
SOLDIERS march and DROIDS thunder along.
Military walkers move in the distance.
OBI-WAN walks toward the Garden.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. GARDEN - ASSEMBLY BELL - WIDE SHOT
We see the main assembly hall, referred to as the assembly
bell.
It is at the heart of the Garden, in one of the central
rings.
The vast chamber's shape is limitedly inspired by the
Galactic Senate's meeting room.
The ceiling cannot be seen.
A raised mechanical platform stands in the center of the
room. Seats occupy the floor, several levels, and tiers.
The chamber itself is divided into 58 sections. Each section
represents one of the 58 wings of the Republic forces. The
chamber divisions are ceremonial only. People sit wherever
they want, despite rank or fealty.
57 of the wings are standard military. The 58th wing is a
special forces team under the direct leadership of General
Kenobi.
The CAMERA is rotating around the room. We see that the
seats are filled and that there are PEOPLE, tiny specks,
lined up against the safety rails of several of the central
levels.
A LONE FIGURE walks down the main hall, headed toward the
central platform.
It is GRAND CHANCELLOR PALPATINE.
WIDE SHOT - MECHANICAL PLATFORM
The CAMERA is positioned below the platform, allowing us to
see the ceiling of the chamber.
It is an arcing latticework of metal.
58 flags hang down, each representing a division of the
Republic's military. The 58th flag is solid black.
Above the central platform, six large screens hang.
GRAND CHANCELLOR PALPATINE climbs the platform.
He stands in the center of it.
His image appears on the screens.
PALPATINE
Hello.
Palpatine's voice echoes throughout the chamber.
The CAMERA moves up, pushing into PALPATINE.
PALPATINE speaks, the CAMERA still moving closer to him.
PALPATINE
I'd like to welcome you all to our weekly
open meeting.
The CAMERA holds its position in front of PALPATINE.
PALPATINE
I want to begin with a note. The
relations committee has recommended an
officer's ball, if you will.
(beat)
After a debate, I have agreed to the
idea. It will be a good media
opportunity.
MEDIUM SHOT - PALPATINE
PALPATINE
I may make public several things kept
behind closed doors at the event. Yet,
the date of it has not been determined.

Now, on to business.

Last night, the Republic engaged in two
separate military operations.

The first was led by Commodore Ellison of
the 5th Space Wing.
PALPATINE speaks Ellison's name, meaning for him to speak.

Commodore Ellison.
MEDIUM SHOT - COMMODORE ELLISON
COMMODORE ELLISON stands, he is in one of the front rows of
seats. He wears a decorated naval uniform.
CLOSE UP - PALPATINE
PALPATINE looks to the COMMODORE.
MEDIUM SHOT - COMMODORE ELLISON
Two CAM DROIDS buzz about his head, circling him.
He clears his throat.
CLOSE UP - COMMODORE ELLISON
COMMODORE ELLISON
As the Chancellor has stated, I led the
5th Space Wing in an operation last
night.

We eliminated two colony worlds in a
system neighboring the Neimoidian home
planet.
(beat)
We should be ready for a push against
their home sector by the end of two full
commercial weeks.
WIDE SHOT - CHAMBER SCREENS
We see the COMMODORE on one of the large screens hanging from
the ceiling.
COMMODORE ELLISON
Last night's attacks against Neimoidian
colonial worlds were carried out with
high altitude bombings, carried out
through the use of YRB-211 "Spooky"
bombing craft.
An image of the YRB-211 "Spooky" bomber replaces Commodore
Ellison's face.
The plane is reminiscent of the grand bombers of WWII. It is
a wide flying wing with a timeless touch and quality to it.
MEDIUM SHOT - COMMODORE ELLISON
COMMODORE ELLISON looks up at the screens, seeing the
schematics.
He continues to speak.
COMMODORE ELLISON
Precision guided munitions were dropped
on the primary targets, military and
manufacturing sites. These sites
included a battleship construction plant
and droid factory.

Secondary targets were carpet bombed, via
high-yield five megaton "dumb" bombs.
CLOSE UP - COMMODORE ELLISON
COMMODORE ELLISON
The secondary targets were civilian
population centers.
CLOSE UP - PALPATINE
PALPATINE smiles.

Causalities are estimated at 12 billion.
Palpatine's smile grows.

The COMMODORE attempts a joke.

PALPATINE suppresses a chuckle.

PALPATINE looks up, across the room.
He waits a moment.
He opens his mouth and waits another moment.
PALPATINE chuckles softly.
He looks back to the COMMODORE.
PALPATINE
That was good, Commodore.
PALPATINE looks back up, across the room.
He continues.
PALPATINE
The other Republic strike was carried out
by the 58th Wing, Zero Squad.

Led by General Obi-Wan Kenobi.
PALPATINE addresses KENOBI, intending for him to speak.

General.
There is no reply.
PALPATINE repeats himself.

OBI-WAN stands against a silver guard rail.
He eventually raises his hand and shouts.

mission liberating Colony Omikron.

his face.

OBI-WAN glances up at PALPATINE, noting the comment.

As you most likely know, Colony Omikron
is a small Republic world deep in wild
space.
WIDE SHOT - CHAMBER SCREENS
A model of Colony Omikron is shown on the large screens
located above the central platform. It is a small planet,
Earth-like but partly covered in craters. It has a single
large moon.
The model rotates.

It was one of the first worlds taken by
Nemesis.
MEDIUM SHOT - PALPATINE
PALPATINE interrupts.
PALPATINE
If you recall that, now famous,
transmission which first led us to
declare war, it was from Colony Omikron.

Zero Squad struck the main control
compound, we overran the personnel, and
returned authority to the local gov.

The CAM DROIDS buzz back to PALPATINE.

strikes against Nemesis.

week's open meeting. The involved wings
and I will have private closed
conferences, where we will discuss such
matters.

There are several items which I want to
address, but I have prior engagements
with the Senate. I will speak briefly.

The first Victory class battleships and
twin-ion-engine fighters have been
deployed.

that has infected the Mandalorians. We

weapon that will infect the Neimoidians.
The bio-mutigen will kill those that we

Three privateer ships, the Andria Doria,
Dawn Trader, and Caspian Prince, were
travelling deep in occupied space.

They sent back information describing a
Mandalorian-run prison camp.
(beat)
We had believed that all prison camps had
been liberated.
(beat)
We were wrong.

The POW camp is on a muddy world
classified as ARC-1138.
A starmap appears on screen. It zooms in, showing a
representation of ARC-1138. The blurry images sent back by
the privateers are then displayed.

It is deep in the heart of Mandalorian
territory. We have no ships in its
sector or even remotely close by.

high.

PALPATINE looks back and forth.

OBI-WAN is displayed on half the screens, GRAND CHANCELLOR
PALPATINE is on every other.
PALPATINE looks about, decided what to do.
OBI-WAN just looks at him.
OBI-WAN
Chancellor, there are people down there.
PALPATINE speaks, slowly at first, but his words soon rise.

You have personally liberated over 90
percent of all prison camps.
CLOSE UP - PALPATINE
Palpatine's words become heated.
PALPATINE
You have done this not out of compassion
for the innocent!
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
Palpatine makes his point clear.

But, out of your selfishness and lust for
a single person!!!
OBI-WAN stares at PALPATINE, defiantly.

He takes a moment to respond.

OBI-WAN strikes back, viciously.

PALPATINE chuckles. He speaks in a false joking tone.

PALPATINE takes a slow breath.
PALPATINE
I don't know why I keep you here, General

PALPATINE shakes his finger at OBI-WAN
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN raises an eyebrow.

Palpatine's voice becomes grave.

Palpatine's voice is now truly sincere and earnest.

OBI-WAN looks to PALPATINE. He bows his head slightly and
mouths the words "thank you".

PALPATINE smiles at OBI-WAN.
The CHANCELLOR then switches gears. He looks up, across the
room.
PALPATINE
Well, I don't have much time. Let's get
down to business.

INT. KITS - BAR - CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
A profile view, OBI-WAN stares out at nothing. He takes a
sip of his drink.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI
A profile view, OBI-WAN stares off at the distant wall. His
small drink is held above the table, in his left hand.
He is in an empty bar in Kits sector, probably the nicest
place to live on Coruscant.
The place is dim.
He sits alone at a small circular table, off to one side of
the wide dark room.
Three others are in the quiet bar. OBI-WAN is the only
human.
OBI-WAN takes another sip.
A WAITRESS walks by OBI-WAN.
EXTREME CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN'S EYES
OBI-WAN makes eye contact with the WAITRESS as she passes.
EXTREME CLOSE UP - WAITRESS'S EYES
The WAITRESS looks down at OBI-WAN.
CLOSE SHOT - OBI-WAN'S DRINK
OBI-WAN waves his half-empty glass.
CLOSE UP - WAITRESS
The WAITRESS nods, knowing that OBI-WAN would like more.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND WAITRESS
OBI-WAN watches the WAITRESS walks off. She disappears in
the darkness.
OBI-WAN turns back around and takes another sip.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN lets out a tired and beaten dead breath. He shakes
his head.
He contemplates everything.
He thinks of quitting.
He wonders if anything has any meaning, anymore.
He feels that he is broken.
His prime is over.
There is nowhere to go but down.
If only the Universe would deal him some new cards.
It does.
MEDIUM SHOT - BAR DOORS
The old doors to the bar open, sending in shafts of light
from the street outside. Speeders can be seen parked along
the curb.
The towers of the Baudway can be seen in the distance.
FOUR CLOAKED FIGURES enter.
They all wears long hooded cloaks.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN watches the four enter.
He takes another sip of his drink.
MEDIUM SHOT - CLOAKED FIGURES
The FOUR FIGURES walk through the dimly lit bar.
One of the few patrons exits.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND WAITRESS
The WAITRESS returns, behind OBI-WAN.
She places a drink down on the table.
OBI-WAN quickly downs the rest of his first glass.
He places the empty glass down. The WAITRESS picks it up.
OBI-WAN picks up the second glass.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN brings it to his nose. He smells its contents,
closing his eyes.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND WAITRESS
OBI-WAN sets the glass down.
He raises his left hand, a Republic credit chit between his
fingers.
The WAITRESS takes it.
She hurriedly leaves.
We see why as the CAMERA pans to reveal the FOUR CLOAKED
FIGURES approaching.
They stop in front of Obi-Wan's table.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN looks at them, his eyes empty.
He waits.
MEDIUM SHOT - CLOAKED FIGURES
The FOUR CLOAKED FIGURES stand there.
One wears a red cloak, one wears a brown cloak, one wears a
grey cloak, and one wears a black cloak.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN waits.
