       OBI-WAN looks PALPATINE over.  He then speaks in a jaded, 
       cynical voice.

       PALPATINE is taken back by the comment.

       PALPATINE leaves.

       MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN

       OBI-WAN watches PALPATINE exit.  The door slams closed behind 
       him, cutting off the light.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - SENATE CHAMBER - WIDE SHOT

       The SENATE is restless.

       CLOSE UP - PALPATINE

       PALPATINE looks about the vast chamber, a sly look in his 
       eye.

                 Hello.

                 At this very moment, the Republic's fleet 
                 is at war.
                     (beat)
                 It is fighting over the skies of 
                 Alderaan.
                     (beat)
                 I know that many of you here were against 
                 this.

       MEDIUM SHOT - PALPATINE

                           PALPATINE
                 But, it was not I who began this 
                 conflict.

       He's lying.

                           PALPATINE
                 The Jedi Council organized this.  They 
                 are the ones at the heart of our 
                 military.
                     (beat)
                 I know that I supported them, but I made 
                 a grave mistake.
                     (beat)
                 I agree with you, now.
                     (beat)
                 We had no reason to fight.

       CLOSE UP - PALPATINE

                           PALPATINE
                 But, it is too late now.
                     (beat)
                 We are already at war.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - MAIN HALLWAY - WIDE SHOT

       SAESEE TIIN, EVEN PIELL, KI-ADI-MUNDI, EETH KOTH, DEPA 
       BILLABA, and ADI GALLIA walk down the main hall, escorted by 
       12 SENATE GUARDS.

       These JEDI are innocent and unaware of their fate.  The JEDI 
       waiting inside their quarters have sided with PALPATINE.  
       They aren't any better off.

       MEDIUM SHOT - JEDI COUNCIL

       The SIX JEDI walk past the CAMERA.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - SENATE CHAMBER - CLOSE UP - PALPATINE

                 I am sorry.

       The SENATE GUARDS stop.

       They form a circle around the SIX JEDI.

       A SENATE GUARD raises his blaster rifle to the JEDI COUNCIL.

                     (vo)
                 Peacefully.

       MEDIUM SHOT - JEDI COUNCIL

       The JEDI COUNCIL forms a circle, facing outward.

                     (vo)
                 And humanely.

       The JEDI switch on their lightsabres.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - SENATE CHAMBER - CLOSE UP - PALPATINE

                           PALPATINE
                 They will be treated with all the respect 
                 and dignity they deserve.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - MAIN HALLWAY - WIDE SHOT

       11 OF THE SENATE GUARDS open fire on the JEDI.  They deflect 
       the bolts with spinning sabres.

       MEDIUM SHOT - SAESEE TIIN

       SAESEE TIIN wheels his sabre around, deflecting two bolts.

       MEDIUM SHOT - KI-ADI-MUNDI

                           PALPATINE
                     (vo)
                 No harm will come to them.

       A blaster bolt grazes Ki-Adi-Mundi's right shoulder.

       He grinds his teeth.

       MEDIUM SHOT - EETH KOTH

                           PALPATINE
                     (vo)
                 I promise.

       EETH KOTH blocks a blaster bolt, but in doing so, he allows 
       another to strike him in the side.

       He falls.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ADI GALLIA

       ADI bows her head, quickly and quietly mourning EETH.

       She swings her sabre into an oncoming bolt.

       MEDIUM SHOT - SENATE GUARDS

       THREE SENATE GUARDS fire on the JEDI.

       The bolt deflected by ADI strikes one of the GUARDS; however, 
       an angular shield deflects the bolt away from him.

       WIDE SHOT - JEDI COUNCIL AND SENATE GUARDS

       The GUARDS stand there firing at the JEDI.

       The JEDI frantically beat back the blaster bolts.

       The bolts reflect off of the Senate Guards' shields.

       MEDIUM SHOT - EVEN PIELL

       A blaster bolt strike's EVEN just below the neck.

       He collapses.

       CLOSE UP - SAESEE TIIN

       SAESEE TIIN watches EVEN fall.

       A tranquil look passes over Saesee's eyes.

       MEDIUM SHOT - SAESEE TIIN

       SAESEE TIIN stands behind his sabre.

       Its hum grows louder as SAESEE concentrates.

       He swings his sabre at a bolt.

       MEDIUM SHOT - SENATE GUARDS

       The repelled blaster bolt hits one of the GUARDS in the 
       stomach, passing right through and overloading his shield.

       The SENATE GUARD falls.

       Another repelled bolt hits another GUARD, also going through 
       his shield.

       He, too, falls.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ADI GALLIA

       ADI smiles.

       She concentrates on her sabre's power.

       She spins her sabre at an oncoming bolt.

       MEDIUM SHOT - SENATE GUARD

       The GUARD is hit and falls.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       The 12TH SENATE GUARD stands a distance from the fighting.

       He has not yet raised a hand against them.

       He removes his helmet.

       It is NELL WYNDSUNG.

       CLOSE UP - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL watches the futile fight.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       He lifts his hand from his side, a small compact blaster in 
       it.

       CLOSE SHOT - NELL'S BLASTER

       NELL fires his blaster pistol.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ADI GALLIA

       Nell's shot strikes ADI in the chest.

       CLOSE UP - ADI GALLIA

       ADI screams as she falls.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL places his left hand over his right wrist.  A silver 
       band is located across it.

       CLOSE SHOT - SILVER DEVICE

       NELL taps the small silver device on his right wrist.

       WIDE SHOT - JEDI COUNCIL AND SENATE GUARDS

       The remaining JEDI, SAESEE TIIN, KI-ADI-MUNDI, and DEPA 
       BILLABA fight valiantly.

       SIX SENATE GUARDS now lie on the floor, dead.

       The rumble of distant metal can be heard.

       MEDIUM SHOT - DESTROYER DROIDS

       A PLATOON OF DROIDEKA spin down the hall, causing a horrible 
       clanging sound.

       WIDE SHOT - JEDI COUNCIL AND SENATE GUARDS

       The DESTROYER DROIDS circle the JEDI.

       They begin to unfold.

       MEDIUM SHOT - DESTROYER DROIDS

       FIVE DESTROYERS unfold, causing a horrible cranking noise as 
       they do.

       Their deflector shields pop up and they waste no time firing 
       on the JEDI.

       MEDIUM SHOT - SAESEE TIIN, KI-ADI-MUNDI, AND DEPA BILLABA

       The THREE JEDI fight frantically, their sabres are nothing 
       more than spinning wheels.

       Blaster bolts bounce off the blurry sabres.

       WIDE SHOT - JEDI COUNCIL, SENATE GUARDS, AND DROIDEKA

       The THEE JEDI fight to no end, against impossible odds.

       The DESTROYERS fire mechanically, without any thought of fear 
       or remorse.

       MEDIUM SHOT - DESTROYER DROIDS

       TWO DESTROYERS fire a barrage of bolts at the JEDI.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - SENATE CHAMBER - MEDIUM SHOT - 
       PALPATINE

                           PALPATINE
                 We are in need of a strong leader.
                     (beat)
                 One who will end this fighting.

       CLOSE UP - PALPATINE

                           PALPATINE
                 I am that man.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - MAIN HALLWAY - CLOSE UP - NELL 
       WYNDSUNG

       NELL watches the fight.

                 You don't want to fight.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       The CAMERA is behind NELL.

       He throws his arms up and throws off his purple Senate cloak.

       He is clad in a formfitting black suit.

       A small silver cylinder is attached to the back of his black 
       belt.

       He stands there.

       He reaches behind him to his lightsabre.

       CLOSE SHOT - NELL'S LIGHTSABRE

       NELL pulls his simple silver and black sabre off his belt.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL ignites his slim red blade.

                     (vo)
                 Let me do it for you.

       MEDIUM SHOT - SAESEE TIIN, KI-ADI-MUNDI, AND DEPA BILLABA

       DEPA looks toward NELL.

       SAESEE spins his sabre in front of her, catching three bolts 
       that would have hit her.

       He then spins his sabre back and blocks a bolt aimed at his 
       head.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL races toward the THREE JEDI, his sabre ignited behind 
       him, pointed down.

                           PALPATINE
                     (vo)
                 Give me your power.
                     (beat)
                 Give me your pain.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG AND DEPA BILLABA

                           PALPATINE
                     (vo)
                 Let me fight for you.

       NELL strikes DEPA down, cutting her at the waist.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG AND KI-ADI-MUNDI

                           PALPATINE
                     (vo)
                 Give me that.

       NELL strikes down KI-ADI-MUNDI, cutting him across the back.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG AND SAESEE TIIN

       NELL strikes down SAESEE.

       SAESEE fought though.

       SAESEE blocked Nell's first blow and avoided a blaster bolt 
       at the same time.

       Nell's second blow unfortunately did SAESEE in.

       He pushed SAESEE back and swung his sabre around, stabbing 
       and impaling SAESEE in the heart.

                     (vo)
                 I will win.

       SAESEE falls.

       WIDE SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG AND DESTROYERS

       The DESTROYER DROIDS halt their fire.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL shuts off his sabre.

                     (vo)
                 I promise you.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - SENATE CHAMBER - CLOSE UP - PALPATINE

       PALPATINE looks across the Senate Chamber.

       INT. JEDI TEMPLE - HALLWAY - MEDIUM SHOT

       OBI-WAN KENOBI and ATKINSON RAIN, both in hooded cloaks, 
       appear briefly on screen, they pass by like two spectres, 
       driven.

       INT. JEDI TEMPLE - PLO KOON'S QUARTERS

       The CAMERA is positioned near the floor.

       The door to Plo Koon's quarters slides open.

       PLO KOON turns to the door.

       We see a boot firmly planted on the ground.

       A blue lightsabre ignites.

       INT. JEDI TEMPLE - YARAEL POOF'S QUARTERS

       The CAMERA is positioned near the floor.

       The door to Yarael Poof's quarters slides open.

       YARAEL POOF turns to the door.

       We see a boot firmly planted on the ground.

       A yellow lightsabre ignites.

       The CAMERA is positioned near the floor.

       The door to Yaddle's quarters slides open.

       YADDLE turns to the door.

       We see a boot firmly planted on the ground.

       The CAMERA is positioned near the floor.

       The door to Oppo Rancisis's quarters slides open.

       We see a boot firmly planted on the ground.

       A yellow lightsabre ignites.

       EXT. SPACE - BATTLE OVER ALDERAAN - WIDE SHOT

       The battle over Alderaan continues to rage.

       The CAMERA moves across the littered battlefield.

       As it does, Queen Amidala's ship jumps out of hyperspace.

       INT. MARIE CELESTE - COCKPIT - MEDIUM SHOT - AMIDALA

       AMIDALA shouts.

                           AMIDALA
                 Alright, let's go!

       EXT. SPACE - BATTLE OVER ALDERAAN - MEDIUM SHOT - MARIE 
       CELESTE

       Before AMIDALA or her ship can do anything, two DROID 
       FIGHTERS swoop down and fire upon Amidala's ship.

       INT. MARIE CELESTE - COCKPIT - MEDIUM SHOT - AMIDALA

       The ship is rocked by the two blaster shots.

       Moments pass and a third explosion hits the ship.

       AMIDALA is thrown from her chair.

       EXT. SPACE - BATTLE OVER ALDERAAN - MEDIUM SHOT - MARIE 
       CELESTE

       A SQUADRON OF DROID STARFIGHTERS take aim and open fire on 
       the silver ship.

       INT. MARIE CELESTE - COCKPIT - MEDIUM SHOT - RIC OLIE

       RIC OLIE hangs on tight to the controls as the tiny ship 
       rocks.

       RIC shouts, not turning away from his controls.

                           RIC OLIE
                 Shields down!
                     (beat)
                 Engines out!
                     (beat)
                 This was a bad idea, Amidala.
                     (beat)
                 Amidala?

       RIC turns to the QUEEN.

                           RIC OLIE
                 Amidala!

       MEDIUM SHOT - AMIDALA

       AMIDALA is sprawled out on the ground.

       CLOSE UP - AMIDALA

       AMIDALA lifts her head up, bloodied.

       She speaks, weakly.

                           AMIDALA
                 I'm ok.

       MEDIUM SHOT - AMIDALA

       AMIDALA struggles to get up.

       She rises as another explosion hits the ship.

       CLOSE UP - AMIDALA

       AMIDALA looks out the cockpit window.

       Blood runs down her forehead and face.

       She looks down at her hands.

       CLOSE SHOT - AMIDALA'S HANDS

       Amidala's hands are bloodied as well.

       CLOSE UP - AMIDALA

       AMIDALA looks up and shakes her head side to side.

                 Get those engines back online!

                 I want full shields!

       EXT. SPACE - BATTLE OVER ALDERAAN - MEDIUM SHOT - MARIE 
       CELESTE

       The Marie Celeste drifts, loosing valuable fuel and oxygen.

       A lone DROID FIGHTER passes by.

       MEDIUM SHOT - AMIDALA

       Amidala's ship is hit again.

       AMIDALA bares her teeth.

       She shouts.

                           AMIDALA
                 Why aren't we shooting?

       MEDIUM SHOT - RIC OLIE

                           RIC OLIE
                 We're adrift.  I want to be able to 
                 control where we're going first.

       CLOSE UP - AMIDALA

       Blood runs down her cheek.

       AMIDALA speaks in a choked voice.

                           AMIDALA
                 If we're going to die, I want to take 
                 them with us.
                     (beat)
                 I want weapons.
                     (beat)
                 Give me firing control.

       MEDIUM SHOT - RIC OLIE

       RIC nods.

       He then looks out the cockpit window.

       He shouts.

                           RIC OLIE
                 Amidala!

       CLOSE UP - AMIDALA

       AMIDALA turns to the cockpit window.

       Her mouth drops.

       MEDIUM SHOT - AMIDALA

       The CAMERA is behind AMIDALA.  We see out the cockpit window.

       We see a large piece of Republic wreckage, four times the 
       size of Amidala's ship, headed right towards her ship.

       CLOSE UP - AMIDALA

       AMIDALA gasps and brings her arms up, hoping to block or at 
       least soften the impact.

       EXT. SPACE - BATTLE OVER ALDERAAN - MEDIUM SHOT - MARIE 
       CELESTE

       The drifting Marie Celeste slams into the large piece of 
       Republic wreckage.

       There is a fiery explosion and horrible scraping sound.

       The Queen's Ship ricochets off the large piece of scrap, 
       spinning away... uncontrolled, burning, and breaking apart.

       INT. SENATE BUILDING - HALLWAY - MEDIUM SHOT

       NELL WYNDSUNG walks down a hallway.

       ATKINSON RAIN appears in the foreground, behind him.

       She looks toward him.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON paces down the hallway after NELL.

       MEDIUM SHOT - INTERSECTION

       RAIN reaches an intersection.

       CLOSE UP - ATKINSON RAIN

       She glances in both directions.

       ATKINSON chooses the left corridor.

       It is damp and dark.

       Water drips down from the pipes hanging from the ceiling 
       above.

       NELL narrows his eyes.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON approaches, slowly.

       Her sabre is still dangling at her side.

                           ATKINSON RAIN
                 So, you're Darth Pause?

                 Where's Darth Murder and Darth Kill?

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN AND NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL charges at ATKINSON.

       He cuts down at her, but she flips over his head and lands 
       behind him.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON spins to face NELL.

       She is agile.

       Very agile.

                           ATKINSON RAIN
                 You know that you're meaningless.

       NELL charges at her again.

       She sidesteps the strike and jumps away.

       physical fight.

       NELL attacks, spinning his sabre.

       He strikes, cutting above Atkinson's head twice.

       ATKINSON rolls under the blows.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON flips up and spins around.

       CLOSE UP - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON shakes her head.

                           ATKINSON RAIN
                 If this is the way you want it.

                 But, it'll be the end of you.

       The CAMERA is closer in on ATKINSON.

                 I've already killed two corrupt Jedi 
                 today.

       CLOSE SHOT - ATKINSON'S SABRE

       ATKINSON pulls her slim silver sabre from her side.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON slowly activates her sabre.

       The uniform yellow cutting blade ignites.

       It hums at its higher frequency.

       EXTREME CLOSE UP - ATKINSON'S EYES

       Atkinson's eyes narrow.

       The music, reminiscent of "Duel of the Fates", but distinctly 
       different, picks up.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL waits, his sabre outstretched.

       CLOSE SHOT - NELL'S SABRE

       Nell's fingers wrap around his sabre.

       CLOSE SHOT - ATKINSON'S SABRE

       Atkinson's fingers are tight against her own blade.

       CLOSE UP - ATKINSON RAIN

       Atkinson's face is bitter.

       CLOSE SHOT - ATKINSON'S RIGHT BOOT

       ATKINSON pushes her right foot into the floor, springing 
       herself forward.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN AND NELL WYNDSUNG

       ATKINSON races toward NELL, her sabre out at her side.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON cuts across horizontally, her golden sabre burning 
       bright.

       NELL back flips away.

       He smiles.

       He, too, is agile.

       A profile view, NELL charges at RAIN

       CLOSE UP - ATKINSON RAIN

       A profile view, ATKINSON charges at NELL.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL swings his sabre around backwards and at RAIN.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN AND NELL WYNDSUNG

       ATKINSON catches Nell's blade.

       They push up against each other, spinning as they do.

       NELL eventually breaks the test of strength, spinning 
       backwards.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON swings her sabre to strike.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL completes his spin, catching Atkinson's blade.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN AND NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL deflects Atkinson's attack and runs to his left.

       ATKINSON brings her sabre up to strike him again.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN AND NELL WYNDSUNG

       From another angle, we see ATKINSON swing her sabre down 
       vertically, just behind the running SITH.

       CLOSE UP - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON catches herself in the downswing and turns toward 
       NELL.

       She bares her teeth and moves toward him.

       CLOSE UP - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL smiles arrogantly.

       MEDIUM SHOT - NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL brings his sabre to his side and extends his hand, 
       taunting ATKINSON.

       WIDE SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN AND NELL WYNDSUNG

       ATKINSON advances.

       NELL brings his sabre around.

       They both attack and their sabres clash.

       They recoil and strike again, NELL gaining some ground as 
       ATKINSON jumps back.

       ATKINSON quickly takes the ground back, making a hard 
       horizontal swing, knocking NELL back.

       She follows up with a vertical strike.

       NELL drops to one knee, his blade over his head, shielding 
       himself from the blow.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN AND NELL WYNDSUNG

       NELL rolls to one side, deflecting the rest of the downward 
       thrust.

       ATKINSON turns with him and strikes again.

       NELL blocks this attack, too.

       He jumps back and swings his sabre horizontally.

       ATKINSON drops down.

       Nell swings his sabre over Rain's head twice.

       ATKINSON flips backwards, away from the SITH.

       CLOSE UP - ATKINSON RAIN

       ATKINSON bares her teeth.

       MEDIUM SHOT - ATKINSON RAIN AND NELL WYNDSUNG

       ATKINSON charges.

       The music rises, as if saying "I'm fighting back now".

       Her first swing goes wide.

       She brings her sabre around to immediately add another 
       strike.
