Trainspotting and The Fifth Element
Two of the best movies of the decade presented
as first-generation DVDs. They're old discs, released
when the system first came out. No extras. One side
of the disc Widescreen, the other pan-and-scan. Ugh.
The picture's real pretty, though.
Hopefully these will get re-released in better
editions. I know 20th Century Fox is re-releasing
Se7en in March as a better DVD, with commentary and
trailers and such. I hope these two movies get the
same treatment, although it should be noted America is
the only country that didn't get a Trainspotting
special edition with cut-scenes (which are really cool
--- they were shown on the Independent Film Channel a
couple of months ago and my friend taped them) and
commentary.
