The Tick & Arthur #1
by Sean Wang and Mike Baker
Hey everybody! A new Tick comic! Not only a new
comic, but it's a new ongoing series! Spoon!
Everybody here at DFFQI loves the Tick. Steve
Pause's room is full of the toys perched on
ever-vigilant guard on top of shelves. But I'm pretty
sure I'm the only one to get this new one.
It's simply fabulous, presented on thick paper,
in black and white, with no ads. $3.50, which is a
hell of a lot to pay for a B&W, 32-pager, but the
sting in the wallet is soon calmed by the utter
hilarity contianed within.
The story concerns The Tick and Arthur returning
to The City, but there return is interrupted by a run
to the hospital. See, a mental institution got blowed
up real good, and all of the Tick's illustrious
baddies are laid up in the very same hospital. But
The Tick doesn't know this. He only finds out when
Barry, the other Tick who's still pretty mad about
losing the title to our hero, attacks him.
The subplot involves jobless ninjas. What more
needs to be said?
The whole reason I stopped buying comics about
four years ago was because I simply didn't have enough
money to keep up with comics and music. And now, when
I got back into it, I was really happy I was able to
strike a balance between most of my money(records),
and some of my money (The Invisibles and Madman
Adventures). Time to start allocatin' new funds,
because this comic is definitely one of my regulars
now. (New England Comics)
