Spacemen Are Go!:Live In Europe 1989 --- Spacemen 3
Ah, Spacemen 3. Poster boys of straight-edge.
The best band to ever come out of Europe? Possibly.
I found this CD in a small shop in Fredonia NY.
THere's a story which goes along with that, but I'll
recount it some other time.
This is a super-cool eleven song collection of
live material from the shows S3 played in Germany in
'89. Great stuff, including a cool version of
"Rollercoaster" to kick the whole thing off, a great
version of "2:35", a full-form fuzz blast of
"Starship", the requisite "Revolution" freak-out, and
the first calm electric version of "Walkin' WIth
Jesus" these ears have ever heard (a calm acoutic
gtr/organ version can be found on "Perfect
Perscription", though), complete with the original
"'Cause I can't stand this life without sweet heroin"
lyrics that were deleted from all studio versions of
the song. Oh, and there's also a sixteen-minute
version of "Suicide".
Very nice stuff if you can track it down.
Excellent liner notes from DroneOn majordomo Chris
Barrus. (Bomp!, no address listed)
