Night of the Living Dead
I wasn't expecting this. I didn't think that I would like, no, love this movie.
I first saw Dawn of the Dead about four months ago.
I thought it was really cool, very well done, but
lacking somewhere. Therer just could have been so much
more.
So, I decided to see where this story began. Just a
few days ago, I was in FYE when I saw Night of the
Living Dead on video for $4.99. I bought, took it home
and put it in the vcr. The back of the box said not to
"Watch it alone". I was alone. Would I prove the movie
gods wrong by not being scared?
It doesn't matter whether or not I was terrified. I
wasn't, but I've never ben truly frightened by any
movie except Event Horizon. Don't laugh.
Night of the Living Dead is what every low-budget
should look like. The shots are simple. There's no
real flash besides a bit of fire. The dialogue is also
basic. The quality of the story is what sets this
movie apart form just about all of the other "indie"
films I've seen. Henry Fool and The Blair Witch
Project are two other examples of having great
stories.
The movie's plot is this. There are zombies. These
zombies attack these people. These people all find a
farmhouse. They stay there. There are no side plots.
Everything has to do with the zombies, the house and
the living people inside it.
The ending hits you in the face. I would've been
more affected by it had I not seen the last scene at
Pause's.
Zombies and movies. It's never been done better.
