All in all, 'Macross II' was a good picture.
It had its faults...
It followed the events which took place in 'Macross: Do You Remember Love', which was a war propaganda film.
The character animation was, at times, choppy.
Every variable fighter was referred to as a Valkyrie.
...petty thing like that.
The film followed a SSN reporter who had come upon a Zentradi princess. It was learned that the Zentradi do have music... music which guides their soldiers in battle. They are joined by a female UN Spacy pilot, granddaughter of the original saga's Max.
The three resurrect the long dead SDF-1 Macross to stop a hostile Zentradi faction.
It was a good film.
My only major objection was the portrayal of UN Spacy as a corrupt and sinister organization.
Looking past that, 'Macross II' had everything that makes Macross Macross. Insanely large fleets consisting of thousands of ships. Countless concussion grenades firing in unison. Thousands upon thousands upon thousands of beam cannons firing in one massive barrage.
Macross.
