Kite
My interest about this title piqued when it was on the
cover of Animerica, and the accompanying
article made it sound really cool, so I made it one of
my little goals to find a copy of Kite. I
did, and I finally saw it two days ago.
It's probably the best anime I've seen since I
first encountered Ghost In The Shell two
years ago. Yes, it deserves to be mentioned in that
sentence. The animation is breathtaking,
especially the action sequences. The unbelivable
action sequences.
The plot is pretty much the same as The
Professional or La Femme Nikita. But it takes
it in a totally different direction. And it's great.
It does more in it's forty-five minute running
time than most movies do in two hours. All that and a
totally unexpected and left-field
ending that, without killing the main character,
leaves a sequel impossible.
