Once upon a time, there were a couple of real cool kids from the Berwick, South Berwick, and North Berwick parts of Maine named Nick, Jared, Mike D and Harold. They were all extremely talented musicians and songwriters and loved music. Nick sang and played the guitar like a pro. Jared played his guitar with creativity and incredible skill not seen often in this world. Mike D played the bass with precision and feeling, he was awarded Best Bass Player courtesy of the Rock Off people, which was well deserved. Harold beat the skins with genius talent and played so on time that he held any band together like a tightly knit scarf. Well, eventually these really cool people started a really cool band, called Simple Simon. They decided to change it very quickly to Smith Comma John. One of the best bands of all time. They wrote very nice songs and used their extreme talent to make extremely good music. They played at Noble High School several times, at talent shows, and THE SHOW, and at a Rock Off, and with Good For Life. People always LOVED them and their music! The audiences were always spellbound by the catchiness and overwhelming talent present in super songs like "Ruth", "Electric Words", "Killer Robot Girls", "Hey There", "I Don't Know", "The Far Away Song", "God Bless You", "When I Talk To You", and "Jared Left His Lights On." Well, despite Smith Comma John's incredible talent and great shows, a bad thing had to happen. Nick, the lead singer, had to move to Baltimore. He did on June 4th, 2001, and thus Smith Comma John ended. This was a sad day, for they were an incredible band that deserved to be recognized abroad on radio and mtv. They played music that is a heck of a lot better than most of what is being put out there today, or ever for that matter. I wish they were around for a long time, but I am glad that they were at one point, they will be in my memory forever. Good luck to the members of Smith Comma John in whatever each of you choose to do. I will miss you guys.
