Following on from their success at the NME Carling Awards, Coldplay took two top honours at the Brit Awards last night at London Earl's Court. About a year on from the release of 'Shiver', the band triumphed in the Best British Band and Best British Album categories, seeing off competition from the likes of Radiohead, Robbie Williams and Craig David.
Accepting the award for Best British Band from Fay Ripley and Ralph Little, Chris Martin told the audience, "This is the weirdest thing that ever happened to us. All around us are bands we used to listen to when we were at school, sitting eating their tea. It's weird, and it's great. Thanks very much." The band were later handed the award for Best British Album for 'Parachutes' by movie legend Samuel. L. Jackson.
