Jani Šolar

Jani is from Slovenia, he writes this about his Croma...

It was made in july 1998, and have a 2.0 engine with electronic injection (2.0 ie) with 125 HP. Till now she (??!!!) were drive more than 250.000 km. I bought it 4 years ago and it's look like in the picture..

Mine Croma's returns arounds 9L/100km. The car has done 250000 km with original engine, and it is seems to be done many more. It' is in very good condition. I must take care in oil in engine, because, this is very important in that engine. Only part's i've changed was exhaust valve (all 4). So after 10 years, Croma seems to be in good condition (after that km), there is comeing a little rust in some parts of a car, but nothing alarmed.

Torbjörn Stenberg

Hi, I'm Torbjörn Stenberg

and iI live In Sweden, and I have a 1988 Fiat Croma i.e with abs and cat .

I want to tell you a story of how i picture my car, it's comfortable, reasonably fast I've had it up to 180 without any drama and then she accelerated quite strong still, i guess 195/200 is a fair assumtion, very lean on fuel if I drive carefully, and I do belive it has a soul.

About a year ago I had four passangers. and non of them were all that impressed about my precious donna.

The comment about italian cars in general and fiat werem't something very nice. This was in late november and it was cold so i put the automatic heating system at comfortable 22 deg centi and off we went.

After a couple of miles it still did't deliver any warm air and the engine temp didn't move at all. Due to the cold atmoshere no more comments were said during our 150km drive. The next day we went back and still no heat, this day was even colder. As i got home and had left my passangers I went out to drive away alone after an hour, and imideatly it started to produce the nicest of warm comfortable air.

So . soul it got and plenty of it.

As it turned out the problem was due to a crummy german thermostat that jammed fully open, and after changing to a italian one it stopped.

Life is to short to drive a boring car

Olle Sundqvist

Hello!

First of all, thank you for a superb site! I'm glad to know there are more
people in the world that have discovered these excellent cars that provide
such great value for money. My own Croma is an '89 Turbo with 150 HP, lots
of equipment and ample (to say the least) speed resources. After the
purchase last year, it spent some time in my garage as I had to catch up
with the maintenance issues that the previous owner had neglected. Anyway,
it is now running very well and it will probably give good service for
several years to come as the mileage is fairly low (140 000 km). Moreover,
the body is virtually free of rust - quite amazing in this climate!

Finally, let me inform you that you are in fact wrong as regards the
availability of factory workshop manuals. I have myself been in contact with
Fiat in order to buy one, and I met with a positive response.
As of now, I'm awaiting delivery of a manual in English, which will cost
about GBP 120 which I don't find too unreasonable.

I'm enclosing a photo in case you'd care to display it on your site!

Forza Fiat!

This guy is really mad. He drag races his Croma. And apparently from the pictures against Nissan 100NXs. Now that can't be right. Can it?

What a car eh?
