San Francisco. I missed kool kieth so i could get up front for this set. once kool kieth's set ended, we heard some sound come out of hunter's bass and then jade started playing the intro to what i thought was gonna be "the midnight sun". then davey came out and was like "are you guys ready?" and adam started the imfamous opener, "stength through wounding". i thought it was a cool way to start the set.
they only played for about a half hour, which sucked, and they only played two old songs back to back, which sucked, but other than that it was a great performance. i noticed that a few times, davey had to duck cuz if he didn't, hunter would've given him a pretty good concution with his bass. during "god called in sick today", davey walked on the crowd. during "lost souls", he jumped in and when he got back onstage he had a big hole in the back of his shirt and we all got to see his zitty back!
i talked to him for a while after (or during) bouncing souls. he had to get through a gang of 12-14 year old teeny boppers to get to me. i thought it was kinda funny. i asked him if they could play "your name here" next time and he thought for about a milisecond and said "no!..dammit!" and laughed. it sucks that afi don't like playing their old songs, but they're still one of the best live acts out there and one of the most talented bands in the punk scene.
set list- strength through wounding/ sacrifice theory/ prayer position/ ever and a day/ a single second/ cruise control/ god called in sick today/ narrative of soul against soul/ the lost souls/ days of the phoenix/ totalimmortal
