its another cold night and she's climbing in my window
tears upon her cheeks and dirt all through her hair
i ask her "were you at the tracks again?", she says no
but she's lying because i know she was there
i used to be able to see her soul through her eyes
but the sparkling blues have lost their bright
she stares back, empty, into mine
and i know that she went to the tracks again tonight
she waits for the last second to jump off the rails
praying to god that someday she won't be afraid to stay
she finds peace in knowing someday she'll wait for the train
and maybe next time she won't move out of its way
she cries as she holds me, in the distance a train goes by
she says i'm her only friend, she can't do it without me
so tomorrow i'll be there when she waits for her train
and i'll be there to give her the extra push she needs
