The Shining Force

Max

Max is the leader of the original Shining Force. He was trained to be the leader of the Shining Force, an army built to defend the Kingdom of Granseal. Max is a powerful warrior with a sword as well as a master of lightning magic.


Strategy: Max is a well balanced warrior. His sword attacks are powerful and varied; while his projectiles are equally useful. The best way to use Max is to counter what ever strategy the other guy is using.

    Magic Healing*: Heals himself or another
    Laser Eye*: Fires a laser beam from his shoulder (S)
    Shining Slash*: A series of 4 sword strikes
    Death: Casts a death spell and a little grim reaper flies at the enemy (D)
    Teleportation: Casts the Engress Escape spell.
    Launcher: A rising sword sweep.
    Hyper Attacks:
    Hyper Bolt*: Bolts of lightning fire downward. Hits up to 18 times. (S)
    Sorcerer’s Pleasure: Max launchs 16 death spells (D)
    Shining Sword: A series of 8 powerful sword attacks

    Enter: “Promotes” from Squire to Hero
    Taunt: Poses like in the picture
    Victory: Sheaths his sword and pic-pose

  • Sarah

    A priestess from the second Shining Force. Later, she can be promoted into a master monk, a fighting healer. Sarah fights in her master monk form here. Sarah is a classmate of Bowie's (The Shining Forces leader). Trained as a healer, she does her best to make sure that the other members of the group aren't hurt.


    Strategy: Sarah is a melee fighter. Her moves require her to be as close to the enemy as possible. She has no distance attacks, so if the enemy gets away, Sarah has to follow them. Just beware of counters, her low defense lets her be worn down by chipping damage.

    Fury Punches: A quick series of punchs. E.Honda’s 100 hand slap attack
    Spinning Bird Kick*: A upside down helicopter kick
    High Kicks*: Jumps into the air with repeated kicks. Like Chun-Li’s attack.
    Chi-Ball: Holds out a ball of holy energy (H)
    Shield: Raises defense by 1 point for 10 secs
    Healing*: Casts healing magic on the target.
    Bonus: Dodge
    Launcher: She kicks straight up
    Hyper Attacks:
    Aerial Fury*: A hyper version of the High Kicks attack. Hits up to 16 times
    Monk Discipline: Sarah dashs forward (C) and attacks for 13 hits
    Supreme Aura: A spell that raises Defense and Speed each by 3 points for 10 secs.

    Enter: Takes off her priestess robes
    Taunt: Turns around and slaps her ass
    Victory: Sarah is surrounded by the healing light

  • Zeon

    A great demon sealed by the Kingdom of Granseal. When rat thief Slade takes the Jewels of Light and Darkness that form the seal, Zeon's minions awaken to free their lord from his prison. Zeon is large and powerful, with the power to destroy the world.


    Strategy: A big, slow ranged fighter. With many cheap specials that cover a wide area for many hits, Zeon is a master at the defensive strategy.

  • Chain Combo, Frost Magic or Claws of Zeon or Dark Breath
  • Sweep Combo, Dark Breath
  • Chain Combo, Launcher, Blaze Magic or Air Combo + Dark Breath

    Blaze Magic*: Summons 6 meteors of fire that fall from the sky. (A,3 hits)(F)
    Frost Magic*: 15 tiny particles of ice roll forward like a wave. 15 hits, but fairly weak (W)
    Claws of Zeon*: Punches forward with a huge fist that covers half of the screen
    Gargoyles: Creates a small, flying stone creature. Will move around, trying to attack the enemy

    Basic Throw: Picks up the enemy and charges them with dark energy. 8 hits (D)
    Launcher: Brings a claw-shaped arm out of the ground in front of Zeon
    Hyper Attacks:
    Dark Breath*: Shoots 18 balls of darkness forward. (D)(A)
    Gate of Zeon: Punches ahead (C) and throws the enemy into the Gate. The gate will hold all
  • fighters punches into it until one team is out of fighters, then all gated fighters are released.
    Dark of Night: Level 3. Creates a small grim reaper in the air. Flies forward. Unblockable. Instant death to Ratio 1.

    Enter: A dark portal appears and dark clouds roll out and form Zeon
    Taunt: Sweeps open his cloak and a random monster from Shining Force comes out and cheers.
    Victory: Picks up the enemy and throws the body into the Dark Gate
