Kano
An assassin for hire and the leader of a crime syndicate. Kano joins forces with Shang Tsung so he could get his hands on Sonya Blade. Strategy: Kano is aggressive and should be played as such. His moves are powerful, but the ball attacks in particlur have a long recovery time. Use his moves as parts of combos, because if they are blocked, he is wide open. Liu Kang
A descendent of the ancient companion of the Mortal Kombat tournament. Liu Kang is chosen warrior to fight in the tournament so that the Dark Realm is kept out of the Earth Realm. Strategy: Liu Kang may be a little lacking in the power and defense categories, but he still works well on the offensive. His speed, along with low recovery time, let him attack quickly, and even counter enemy counters. Combos: Similar Fighters: Yuri, Anakaris Stats: Power: 4 Energy: 5 Defense: 4 Speed*: 7 Ratio: 2 Special Moves: Dragon Fire*: Shoots a line of fire from his hands. Reptile
The Dweller of the Pit. Reptile is actually a lizard like creature that has taken on human form. Reptile works for Shang Tsung in his mission to take over Earth, but in truth is cooperating so that his own people will be left alone. Strategy: Reptile is a goofy fighter with some interesting moves. The Lizard Punch doesn't look like a low attack until it hits. The forceball is good for combos. Just becareful of Midway Secret and Invisibility; these abilities can hurt you more than the enemy. Combos: Similar Fighters: ?? Fujin
The God of Wind. Fujin is a colleague of Raiden. He is on a mission by the lord of the Gods to defeat Shinnok. Strategy: Fujin is moderately fast, with extremely powerful specials, however, his power and defense are insanely low, making him worthless in hand-to-hand kombat. Stay back and pummel the enemy with specials and hypers. Jax
A US army sergeant with metal arms. Jax is very sure of himself, with massive strength and intelligent maneuvers. Strategy: A slow moving wrestling type. Try to stay close to the enemy and use his unblockable throws to pummel the enemy into submission. The Fist Slam is fast enough to close in if the enemy leaves open a gap. Combos: Similar Characters: Terry Bogart (KOF), Zangief (SF) Stats: Power*: 8 Energy: 4 Defense: 5 Speed: 3 Strength: E Weakness: B Ratio: 2 Special Moves: Metal Slam: Reaches out his arm (C) and slams the enemy back and forth 4 times. Basic Throw Arm Missiles*: Fires a missile out of his arm. Can be done twice in a row Fist Slam*: Quick Dashes forward with his fist outstretched. Flying Backbreaker*: Jumps up and forward (C) and does a backbreaker to the victim. Quake Buster: Punches the ground, and a shockwave moves out of the impact. Launcher. Cyrax
A mechanized ninja built by the Hau Lian, Sub-Zero's former clan. After the icy warrior throws down his mask, Cyrax and his companion Sektor are built to kill the traitor. Even after Shao Kahn annihilates the Clan, the cyborgs continue with their mission, undaunted. Strategy: Cyrax requires a bit more timing than the average fighter. His bombs can be very tricky to time correctly. Most of the time, the enemy should be as close as possible. Use the Shock Net to pull the enemy closer. Against extremely aggressive enemies, teleport to counter their advance. Combos: Similar Fighters: Sektor Stats: Power: 5 Energy: 4 Defense*: 6 Speed: 5 Strength: P Weakness: S Ratio: 2 Special Moves: Shock Net*: Fires an electrified net that does damage and pulls the enemy closer (S) Bomb Launcher*: A bomb flies out of his chest, and sits on the ground for 3 seconds before exploding (F) Power Driver*: Reaches forward (C) and piledrives the enemy into the ground. Plus, they bounce. Explosive Teleport: A teleportation move that can hurt enemies in too close (F) Elemental Fist: A powerful punch that has a random elemental, except it cannot be Psychic based Basic Throw: Basic rolling kick throw Launcher: A standing uppercut Hyper Attacks: Exploder*: An extra powerful Teleport. Subzero
A member of the Lin Kuei assassins. For a long time, Subzero fought for whoever paid him. However, by MK3, he has realized that the fate of his planet is hanging in the balance and leaves the assassin band to protect Earth from the Outworld. Strategy: Subzero is the master of stunning. Nearly all of his moves cause the enemy to become frozen, leaving the victim wide open to just about anything. The only drawback is the Subzero can only have one ice ability onscreen at any given time. So if he misses with an Ice Puddle, Ice Rain, or Freezing Close, he cannot use any more ice specials until it dries up. Combos: Similar Fighters: None Stats: Power: 6 Energy: 2 Defense*: 7 Speed: 4 Strength: W Weakness: F Ratio: 2 Size: M Special Moves: Freezing: Many Sub moves cause freezing. This is basically stunning, with a frozen graphic. Freeze Shot*: Throws a icy projectile straight ahead. Causes little damage, but leaves the enemy frozen. (W) Sliding Kick*: Does a long ranged slide kick forward. Weak, but very comboable. Ice Rain*: Throws ice power into the air, which then falls on the enemy to freeze. (W) Freezing Clone: Subzero jumps back, leaving an ice clone in his place. Touching it causes freezing (W) Ice Puddle: Creates a small patch of frozen water. Anyone stepping on it slips, and is stunned Basic Throw: The basic fall-back-and-throw-with-leg-judo-like-throw. Launcher: A basic rising uppercut Hyper Attacks: Contained Blizzard*: Creates a globe of the most absolute cold around himself. 12 hits+Freeze (W) Sliding Assassin: Does a slide kick (C) followed by a 10 hit combo ending with a roundhouse kick Ice Breaker: Only while enemy is frozen. Scorpion
A damned soul from Hell, Scorpion was one of Subzero's first victims as an assassin. Now Scorpion is charged with the unholy energies of the underworld and has returned to claim his revenge. Strategy: Like Subzero, a tricky fighter. His moves have almost no start time, meaning they combo well, but they also have long recovery times. Using Scorpion's cheap specials at the right time is the key to victory. Combos: Similar Fighters: None Stats: Power: 5 Energy*: 6 Defense: 3 Speed: 6 Strength: DF Weakness: H Ratio: 2 Size: M Special Moves: Dead Warp*: Jumps forward with a punch. (A) Hook of Stingers*: Throws his hook. If it hits, the victim is pulled forward and left stunned. Fire Breath*: Shoots a short ranged stream of fire from his mouth. 4 hits (F) Scissor Kicks: A sweep attack that hits victims twice. Basic Throw: See Subzero above. Bonus Abilities: Shadow Slide Launcher: Standard uppercut Hyper Attacks: Skull Smoke*: Takes off his mask to reveal a skull and breaths fire. Like Dhalsim. 20 hits (F) Giant Scorpion: Transforms into a large scorpion that tries to sting the enemy.
