Little Mac

The little boxer that could. Mac was the character controlled in the Punch Out! games. Even though he was really small, this guy could pack a huge punch. He has fought Mike Tyson as well as the august Bald Bull. Balrog would have no chance against Little Mac.


Strategy: Little Mac is a boxer. He is a in-close fighter. Just remember the Dynamite punch, it has medium range.
Battle Plan: Mac is actually fairly Little. Just stay away from him, or keep him tied up with speedy attacks to chip away at his life.

    Special Moves:
    Turning Fist*: Mac turns his back and then charges forward with a punch.
    Rolling Fist: Rolls forward and then punchs low.
    Star Fist*: Mac jumps into the air and punchs. Uppercut (A)
    Dynamite Fist*: Punchs the earth and a rock shoot up. (E)
    Tornado Spin: Spins with arms extended. Like Zangief's Attack(A)
    Basic Throw: Classic Boxing Headlock
    Bonus: Dodge
    Launcher: Basic standing uppercut

    Hyper Attacks:
    Fury Swipes*: Moves forward while delivering 10 punchs
    Fury Rocket: A super Star fist that hits 15 times
    Star Speed: Raises Mac's speed by 5 points for 10 seconds.

    Enter: Practice punchs and a bell rings at start
    Taunt: Knocks his gloves together
    Victory: A ref runs out and raises Mac's arm

  • Shinobi

    One of the Grand Daddies of Gaming. Shinobi is a ninja warrior defeating enemies?. for some reason. Games this old didn't have a story. I assume his girlfriend was kidnapped.


    Strategy: Shinobi needs to charge in close and use his incredible speed to keep the enemy on the defensive. Stay back slightly from grapplers, so they can't grab Shinobi, because his defense is too low to take too many throws.

    Combos:
  • Chain Combo, Ninja Blade or Cyclone Blade
  • Sweep Combo, Ninja Magic
    Similiar To: Silver Samuria, Strider

    Stats: Power: 3 Energy: 6 Defense: 3 Speed*: 9 Ratio: 2

    Special Moves:
    Shuriken*: Throws a fairly large ninja star at the enemy. (A)
    Ninja Blade*: Unsheathes his blade and slashes forward with 3 sword attacks.
    Switch Blade*: Charges forward, teleports behind the enemy and slashes them.
    Magic Slide: Becomes less then solid and moves either forward or backward
    Bonus: Damaging Taunt. Shinobi's taunt can deal damage if the shuriken hits the enemy.
    Basic Throw: Does a magic slide through the enemy, slashes with sword
    Bonus Abilities: Wall Jump, Wall Cling, Rolling Evade
    Launcher: A rising slash with his sword

    Hyper Attacks:
    Ninja Magic*: Splits into 10 shadowy ninjas that bounce around. Each one can hit up to 3 times (A)(D)
    Cyclone Blade: Draws his blade and does 3 uppercut attacks. 10 hits
    Blood Thirst: Draws his blade and may use it for normal attacks. Power up 3, ranged increased. 10 Secs

    Enter: Several Shadow Ninjas combine to form the real one
    Taunt: Throws a shuriken straight up and catches it
    Victory: Bows to the enemy

  • Altered Beast

    An ancient spirit recalled to Earth by a God whose daughter was kidnapped. The Beast has the power to transform into a variety of different beast forms, including a werewolf, were-polar bear, weredragon, and were-hyena (?). The fighter here is in Werewolf form normally.


    Strategy: The Beast depends on being fairly close to the enemy. His only distance attack is the Wolf's Essence, so stay in range of all his specials and wait for or create an opening. Be cautious charging grapplers.

    Were Dash*: Does a shoulder tackle-like dash attack (A)
    Wolf's Essence*: Throws a projectile shaped like a wolf's head (A)(P)
    Stone Pillar*: A pillar of stone pokes out of the ground beneath the enemy. (E)
    Basic Throw: Werewolf bite, multiple hits
    Bonus: Gains vigor for collecting the enemy's Castlevania or Collection groove items.
    Launcher: Rears back and howls, launching close enemies.

    Hyper Attacks:
    Were-Energy*: A large globe of energy centers itself on The beast. 15 hits (P)
    Were-Dragon: Turns into a dragon, flies around and fires balls of fire. Like Beat Plane (A)(F)
    Golden Werewolf: Turns into a golden wolf and all stats gain 3. Lasts for 10 secs

    Enter: A grave stone bursts apart and the beast rises out of the ground
    Taunt: Turns into a were-hyena and laughs
    Victory: Howls at the moon.

  • Billy Lee

    One half of the fighting force known as the Double Dragons. Billy and his brother, Jimmy, ran a martial arts dojo. However, when the school of the shadow arts kidnaps Billy's girlfriend, the Brothers take to the streets.


    Strategy: An aggressive, if a bit basic, fighter. Most of Billy's moves aren't impressive looking, but work to get the job done. A melee ranged fighter for the most part, his Throw Weapon attack doesn't reach far nor is it powerful. Fight in close.

  • Chain Combo, Dragon Kick or Nunchunku or Fury of Flank
  • Sweep Combo, Over the Back (as victim rises) or Roar of the Dragon
  • Chain Combo, Nunchunku, Fury of Flank or Double Dragon.

    Throwing Weapon*: Throws a Double Dragon weapon, such as knives and broken bottles
    Over the Back: Does a forward flip. Reaches down mid-flip (T) grabs the enemy's head for a throw
    Shattering Claw: A single dashing punch (C) followed by an additional 3 punches.
    Basic Throw: Bends the enemy forward and knees in the head
    Launcher: The basic standing uppercut

    Hyper Attacks:
    Roar of the Dragons*: Jimmy appears, and the pair do a stationary, floating Dragon Kick. 12 hits
    Fury of Flank: A hyper nunchunku. Flips his weapon around in a wide area. 8 hits
    Double Dragons: Dashes forward (C) with a Shattering Claw. Then Jimmy appears for a double team. 20 hits.

    Enter: A garage door opens in the background
    Taunt: Punches the ground in anger
    Victory: Jumps off screen, and Jimmy and Billy both fly back with crossing flying kicks.

  • Steve

    A cybernetic soldier in the world of Shatterhand. When a policeman named Steve loses his hands on assignment, his government crafts him robotic, ultra powerful substitutes and a remote control attack droid. Now he hunts the criminals who injured him for some pay back.


    Strategy: Most of Steve's moves rely on his droid, which can be both a good and bad thing. Since the droid follows Steve, but doesn't move on quite the same path, it is possible to set up the Droid to shoot from odd angles. However, it can also mean the Droid might be horribly out of position to perform the planned attack.

    Sword Bot*: Steve's droid grows a sword, rushes forward for an attack
    Yo-yo Bot: The droid becomes a killer yo-yo that Steve hurls at enemies. 3 hits
    Power Up: Charges his hands, making his next punch attack do double damage.
  • Note: If the punch misses or is blocked, the power up still goes away.
    Basic Throw: Punches the enemy right in the gut
    Launcher: Punches straight up with a small explosion

    Hyper Attacks:
    Cyber Punishment*: A hyper Shatter Fist. Dashes forward with a 15 hit punch (A)
    Yo-bo Bot: Steve's bot fires 10 energy disks that home in on the enemy.
    Shocker Bot: Sits on Steve's fist, he punches forward and bolts of lightning shoot out. Medium Range. 27 hits (S)

    Enter: Grabs his hands and they turn into his cyber hands
    Taunt: Does a walk the dog move with the yo-yo bot
    Victory: The droid brings Steve a refreshing drink and a towel.

  • Gaiden Ryu

    Ryu Hayabusa is the Ninja Gaiden. He lives only to avenge his father's death at the hands of an unnamed enemy. After chasing his foe all over Asia, the evil flees to America. Ryu soon meets Irene Lu, a member of the FBI and the pair continue tracking his father's killer.


    Strategy: For a fast ninja-type, his moves just aren't fast enough to combo. Many are extraordinarily unfair, like the Windmill stars, which keep swooping back and forth until it hits. A cheap fighter, but he doesn't inflict much damage, so be ready to move fast.

    Dragon God Sword: Powers up his katana and performs a long ranged slash. (A)
    Dragon God Spheres: Air Only. Fires 2 streaking balls of fire downward (F)
    Basic Throw: Rolls under the enemy and slashes from behind
    Bonus Abilities: Wall Climb
    Launcher: A quick slash aimed a little high

    Hyper Attacks:
    Dragon God Slashing*: Rapidly performs the DG Sword 12 times. (A)
    Invincible Fire Wheel: Ryu surrounds himself in a ring of fire. Enemies touch it are hurt. Up to 20 hits (F)
    Gaiden Wave: Air only. Spins around, throwing Vacuum Waves in all directions. Up to 15 hits (B)

    Enter: Two shadowy ninjas combine to form Ryu
    Taunt: Holds up a glowing orb with a random power-up in it (no effect though)
    Victory: The reverse of the entrance. Ryu splits into 2 shadows

  • Lena

    A young warrior woman picked to save the world of Valis. Valis is a side scrolling series that appeared on Genesis and SNES. She wields a sword, along with several sub-weapons.


    Strategy: Despite her sword, Lena is a devoted distance fighter. Nearly all of her specials are long range, making it difficult for her to fight in melee range. Like most projectiles, hers also have a long start time, making it hard to fire at close opponents.

    Homing Flare*: Lena fires a thin red spear-like shot that homes in on the enemy (F)
    Air Flare*: 4 balls of flame shoot out of Lena for a short distance. 4 hits (F)
    Armor Up: Raises her own defense by 3 points. Lasts for 10 seconds or until hit
    Valis Blade: Performs two sweeps of her blade followed by a stab.
    Basic Throw: Slams the enemy in the head with the hit of her blade.
    Bonus Abilities: Wall Jump
    Launcher: Stabs straight up, bring a blast of flame up with it (F)

    Hyper Attacks:
    Mega Bomber*: Fires a Bomber Gun shot nearly the height of the screen. 10 hits (F)
    Red Rain: Fires 8 Air Flare balls that home in on the enemy. No range limit. (F)
    Armor of Valis: Transforms into Valis, gaining Super Armor 2. The armor lasts for 20 seconds.

    Enter: Raises her sword to the sky and fire climbs up the blade
    Taunt: Hefts blade upwards
    Victory: Powers down into normal clothes and sighs
