"Whispers in my Mind"

So you think you want to look over my shoulder, get inside my skin?
Welcome, then, to my private, little hell and remember...you're the one who wanted in.
First, if you can imagine what it is to die, and then to continue unafraid;
If you can kill that which you love and return time and again unto its grave...
Then maybe (just maybe) you're ready to see, to feel the burning cold within my mind
And walk these shattered halls betwixt broken dreams.
Look deep into the eyes of your chosen prey, and within their pleadings find
The answers to your whispered prayers come flooding: screaming, maddened, blind.
Dig deep into the pit of their wasted, twisted, blackened lives, and pull forth into the night
The hopes and fears and bitter tears to put their soul to flight.
Drink slowly, sweetly, of their loss, consuming what from them beams.
Then fall at last, sated, having partaken of their sin.
Watch now with fond, remembered love as their eyes lose from them their gleam,
And bid them their passage a sweet farewell into twilight's e'en.
Now pause to ponder and to solve this riddle that I ask,
Before you step forth and claim with ardour the duties of my mask.
In thinking through your eternal answer, do you yet know the question?
