"Childe"

Upon severed dreams of memory
Your phantom presence still lingers
Just out of sight of solid proof
I cannot help but wonder
Had you ever danced with me
In the pale moonlight upon mossy heath
And upon the solemn grave in our elder tongue
Did swear there our lives together
Many years ago in the dimming past

I still hear your prayer echoing on the winds
Those pleas that brought me to you
Railed out to the gods no one remembers anymore
Hands outstretched, you reached to the sky
Fighting the cold, raining thunder around you
That threatened with silent voice
"They no longer care!"
But still you called
And even later wondered if they heard

Sometimes at night I still hear your voice before me
Calling me softly as it used to do
I close my eyes and see you standing
As you did when we were younger
Upon the rocks of Ireland's shore
