Article Codes
What All the Gobbledygook Means

Folks may notice that articles and documents are dated, and a string of letters, numbers, and such follow some as well. These are what I call "article codes" and are intended to give the interested visitor an idea of the various issues of progress and content. This particular document is simply an elucidation of what all those jots and scribbles are supposed to mean.

An article/document listing follows the general format of:

Title of Article - MM/DD/YY
(or)
Title of Article - (String of Codes)
The first is pretty self-explanatory: it's simply the date when a piece was "officially" completed (final draft). Other codes are described below.

C - Content is highly contested, debated, or has otherwise created more of a stir than usual (in terms of disagreement and argument). Note that I make no pretense to be mainstream, orthodox, or conventional to begin with. ;-)
D:MM/DD/YY - Draft in progress, last updated on the date indicated.
M - Mature content advisory. The material may be too emotionally disturbing for some readers, confrontational in nature (confronting need not mean offending), or otherwise require a disciplined mental, emotional, and spiritual outlook.
O - Article is obsolete or otherwise outdated.
R - Marked for revision/rewrite; no projected date at this time.
R:Mon - Marked for revision/rewrite, with the month I expect to begin indicated.
R:MM/DD/YY - In the process of being revised/rewritten. The date shows the last update made.
S - Content is deliberately speculative or otherwise based on inquiry and ponderings.
T - Working title (tenative) or title pending.
U:MM/DD/YY - Updated article (the result of all the R's); date follows.
X or X("Title of New Article") - Marked for replacement with a different article, although no projected date at this time. If the replacement title is known (or a tenative one planned), it'll be shown in parentheses.
X:Mon or X:Mon("Title of New Article") - As 'X', but work is expected to begin during the month shown.
X:MM/DD/YY("Title of New Article") - Article has been replaced with the title given in parentheses and will be deleted on the date shown.
Z - Marked for deletion, no replacement or removal date is planned.
Z:Mon - As with 'Z', but article will be removed sometime during the month indicated.
Z:MM/DD/YY - As with 'Z', with a definite date for removal planned.
