Opposers of Inclsuion:
- Many advocates of supported classrooms feel that their child will be ridiculed, and further isolated if they were to be educated within a mainstream classroom environment, but on the other hand, advocates for full inclusion state that once these children are included that their friendships with peers will be promoted and that an overall respect for those students with disabilities will be developed (Dyal and Flynt, 1996).
- People who oppose full inclusion state that the dual system provides students with disabilities with a more structured and least restrictive environment ,while providing integration of students with and without disabilities to the setting that is most appropriate for that student’s individualized needs (Yell, 1995).
- Another problem with full inclusion is that it discourages the development of specialized education programs and that of specifically trained educators.
