Controversies Surrounding Inclusion:
- A controversy surrounding full inclusion for students with Autism is that their disruptive and unusual behaviors they may exhibit can negatively impact other students within the classroom. When these students are in a mainstream classroom, these behaviors are not only disruptive to the students in that classroom, but also to the general education teacher, which could result in a poor relationships with other students and with their general education teacher as well.
- A study conducted by Robertson, Chamberlain, and Kasari (2003), noted that student’s with higher levels of behavioral problems did lessen the quality of the teacher-student relationships.
