A Starcraft game?
You mean the real-time strategy right? No, not really. Boy was I surprised
when Blizzard decided to make a first person shooter based on the Starcraft
universe. But when I saw the screens, they totally blew me away. This
game is slick. So slick that people with greased hair would be proud.
You play as Nova
a Ghost unit in the game. People who've played Starcraft and it's expansion
pack Brood War will know right away. But for those of you who don't
know, a Ghost is stealthy, and works alone, basically an assassin if
you will. But this ghost has special skills including cloaking themselves
making them virually invisible a al Predator (and every other game out
there that has used that style), using lockdown ability which disables
mechanical units and everybody's favorite, the nuke, which hasn't been
shown in the game, but hopefully it's there.
Gameplay seems to
mimic Splinter Cell. You can look around corners and dangle across chasms
and hang on ledges. Very nifty for trying to lose bad guys. I don't
know the cababilities of Nova's gun, but I expect it to be her main
weapon on foot and have zooming functions. The key difference in this
game is that Nova can control vehicles including the seige tank, the
vulture, and the goliath (a mech bascially). That key difference can
vault this game into another level. I mean look what it did for Halo.
"Where in the
world were the other female Ghosts in Starcraft? Cuz Nova looks hot."
