The Storm finished in tenth place in the 2002
N.R.L. competition, with the disgraceful record of nine wins from 24
games. They also finished last out of fifteen in the Home Games crowds,
mostly attributable to the team's lacklustre performances on the field.
This is all in addition to the club being over the N.R.L. salary cap for
the third consecutive year. This problem will be partly rectified at the
of this season when about 13 players come off contract (and only about 5
resigned). However 4 of the big money earners are signed until the end of
2004, they are Robbie Ross, Rodney Howe, Matt Orford and Stephen Kearney.
The Storm always gets value from Kearney but the others either through
injuries or suspension are very expensive.
The Featured Player is CAMERON SMITH (18-6-83). Not able to celebrate his birthday with a win but tried his hardest and the loss was not his fault. |
