A Marine Force Recon's Tale

July 11 The cold icy weather bit into my skin through my clothing, the suit was made to withstand cold temeratures, but weather like this it didn't matter. I'd been out here for 2 weeks now waiting for a reply from the commanding officer. I figured the radio signal was down but there was no static...it was impossible to tell. A team of 10.....well...it's now a team of 3. It all started back at the Marine HQ when they wanted a mission in The northern pole completed. A bunker 100 feet low in the ice up there was taken over by the enemy, we had to take it back. Our mission was to recon it for intel, it ended up being a massacre, not any recon. When we were dropped off by a Blackhawk we had no clue what we were up against. Our skills were great, and being outnubered wasn't even an issue. When we got inside we looked around, there was no sign of any hostiles, What i couldn't believe was i never even saw an executed hostage or murdered civilian! About 20 minutes later the massacre started, men left and right were going down, most of them mine. I've been in battles before but i never would have thought that I would lose this many men at once. The problem was was that this wasn't a terrorist act...it was our own men fighting us! Ya the Marines, I don't know what would make our own men want us dead but When the Marines backed off and left the northern pole I wondered if they were the marines who may have been dishonorably disbanded or what... that was 2 weeks ago, I haven't been able to contact the HQ until 0015 hours ago, they are going to extract us at 2300 hours...thank God, we've been here long enough for 2 of my last few men to die off of starvation. We never got very big meals off of the Penguins we hunted. The chopper, I see it ahead, it's landed 20 feet away, we get on it and sit, thanking God that they have been saved. "Who the heck was that!?! Why were Marines attacking us?" I asked. "They weren't marines, they were terrorrists who whent in disguise,"The gerneral answered. "So why didn't they take hostages?" "That was their plan" I thought and thought about that then responded, "Well then, why didn't we find any?" He was quick to respond, "There was never a hostage there to take since 1984, it was a nuclear shelter for if someone decided to bomb america....didn't you see how old the computers were?" I finally got to the whole point, "So....why were we going there in the first place? if there were no hostages what would we care?" The General answered a frightening answer, "We sent you there to clear the shelter, we knew we were going to be attacked, but we didn't know how, history's been changed, while you were gone...the Twin Towers fell...Attacked by our own Travel Planes. A war's going to start and Bin Laden...Saddam...They are going down!"
