ACW FEST IV

This years event was a replay of a portion of the battle of Sharpsburg (Antietam) Space restrictions forced us to do only a portion of the battle so it was decided to recreate the area North of Sharpsbug and west of the Antietam creek, the Area of  the Cornfield, Sunken Lane, the East and West woods and Dunker church.

The Union lauch an attack out of the cornfield towards Dunker Church.

A Co-ordinated assault was launched on the west woods.

The attack on the west woods was repulsed. but...

the Union Swept away the Rebs defending the crossroads and have flanked Bloody lane.

They force the union troops back, and the Rebs prepare to recieve the next attack as it debouches in fron of Bloody lane.

Heres what the rebels see.

At this point time considerations forced an end to the battle just as the Union was about to launch its assault, the rebels taunt the silly english knigits, er i mean union soldiers.

he federals launch an assault on the west woods, while an attack is planned for the centre.

The attack in the center goes in a turn later.

The attack on the west woods was defeated but the attack in the Centre was quite effective, pushing back hordes of rebel infantry.

Very sucessful, only 1 tiny rebel regiment stands between the Feds and Sharpsburg.

But, its counter attack drives the Union back long enough for reinforcements to arrive.

More federal troops arrive, and get into positions to launch another assault on the West woods.
