Hello hello! 'Tis me, Pyra! And I'm finally getting to do my own shrine, yay! Alrighty, and this is a shrine to that adorable beast, Nanaki from FF7!
Many have asked what Nanaki is. Personally....I have no clue ^^;; He's some sort of dog/cat/hyena thing, whose tail puff is fire. Fire, ooooohhh.....*_*....sorry, I have this thing with fire ^^; Me being a Flamedramon and all.
Game info!
Red XIII, aka Nanaki, joins your party when you're raiding Shinra Inc., to get Aeris back. The Materia he holds is Fire, All, and Sense. His weapons are headresses, and he's got good physical and magical skills. Later on, once you reach his hometown of Cosmon Canyon, he leaves the party for a while, but you get him back when Cloud, Red XIII, Bugenhagen, and another party member enter the Gi Caves.
In the back of the caves, after the Boss fight, Red XIII finds his father Seto, who he'd previously though was a wastrel. Seto had made his way through the Caves alone during the war between Cosmo and the Gi. Their poisonous arrows had turned his body to stone, but he still overlooks Cosmo Canyon, protecting it forever. Seeing the truth, Red XIII pledges to live up to the name "Nanaki, son of the warrior, Seto." Very touching part in the game here ^^
After that, Red XIII rejoins AVALANCHE, and continues on with the party.
Nanaki is also one of the last images in the game. See, his species has incredible longevity. Nanaki is 48, but in his species' terms, he's only about 15 or 16! Now, back to my point. After defeating Sephiroth, and the credits roll, the scene switches to 500 years later. It shows Nanaki - now a respected elder, full headress and new battle scars - running along the ground. Trailing behind him are 2 cubs. They run up the mountainside, coming to a stop on a cliff that overlooks what used to be Midgar. Nanaki then lets loose a roar that echoes out over the land. Very powerful scene.
