School of Rock - Movie Review

School of Rock

School or Rock is a story of a Rock 'n Roll burn out, Dewey Finn (Jack Black), who takes his friend's, Ned Schneebly (Mike White) job as a substitute teacher to pay the rent at a fancy private school. His bandmates had just kicked him out of his band, and Ned's uptight girlfriend was demanding Dewey pay the rent. His job is boring until he finds out they have a school band, and they play instruments. Dewey then decides to make a "project" for the class for the upcoming battle of the bands to beat his old band. The band called School of Rock is made up of and supported by all the students in the class. Besides contending with the strict principal, Rosalie Mullins(Joan Cusack), Dewey has to help out the kids with their problems and keep the project and the whole facade going.

This movie is quite good and funny. The child acting wasn't too bad, and Jack Black's performance was what made this movie worth seeing. The movie has a great sound track, and a theme of music appreciation from the great rock of the later 20th century. The kids were good, the band was great and overall it was a quite good light-hearted kind of comedy.
