Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
The Sorcerer's Stone is a story about a boy named Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) who was raised by his Aunt Petunia (Fiona Shaw) and Uncle Vernon Dursley (Richard Griffiths) and their son Dudley (Harry Melling). Harry finds out that he is a wizard and is going to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. With protests from the Dursleys who hate magic, Rubeus Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane), the Hogwarts ground keeper takes Harry to go buy his magic supplies. On his way to the train Harry gets help from the Weasley family, Ron (Rupert Grint), Mrs. Molly Weasley (Julie Waters), the twins Fred and George (James and Oliver Phelps), Percy (Chris Rankin) and their little sister Ginny (Bonnie Wright).On the Hogwarts train Harry meets friends Neville Longbottom (Mathew Lewis) and Hermoine Granger (Emma Watson).
Once Harry arrives at school he is sorted into Griffindor house and he meets more friends, Dean Thomas (Alfred Enoch), Seamus Finnigan (Devon Murray) and enemies Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton), Vincent Crabbe (Jamie Waylett) and Greggory Goyle (Josh Herdman) and Professors, headmaster Albus Dumbledore (Richard Harris), Profesor McGonigal (Dame Maggie Smith), Madame Hooch (Zoe Wanamaker) and Profesor Snape (Alan Rickman). These proffesors teacher Harry and his classmates the magical arts.
In the course of his studys Harry becomes the youngest seeker in over 100 years for the Griffindor quiddich team after Professor McGonigal saw Harry catch Neville's remembral when Malfoy threw it. Harry and his friends also learn of a mysterious Sorcerer's stone that Lord Voldemort the evil wizard that killed Harry's parents is trying to obtain. Harry and his friends go through a maze of traps and other obstacles, such as Fluffy the giants three headed dog, devil's snare, flying keys, and a huge killer chess set in order to get the stone and save the day.
I like this movie alot, and I like the books even better. I suggest that you read the books before you see the movies because it gives you more knowledge about what's happening. The movie very closely follows what happens in the book and only leaves out small things that aren't really key plot items. My favourite character is Hagrid and I think Robbie Coltrane does a great job of playing him. Overall a really great movie with amazing special effects, a great idea and great actors, well done!
