Goodfellas
Goodfellas is based on the true life story of Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) as he grew up with the mafia. The boss of the area Henry lived in was Paul Cicero(Paul Sorvino), he ran all the mafia crime operations in New York. As Henry rose up in the mafia, his partner's in crime Jimmy "the gentlemen" Conway (Robert Deniro) and Tommy "two guns" DeVito (Joe Pesci) grew with him. At his wedding to Karen Hill (Lorraine Bracco), all the gangsters gave Henry money. Henry was in on a big heist along with Jimmy and Tommy and other gangsters like Frankie Carbone (Frank Sivero) and Stack Edwards(Samuel L. Jackson) and Morrie Kessler (Chuck Low). Jimmy starts getting nervous and he starts whacking all the guys involved in the hiest. Jimmy didn't whack Henry, because he was making good drug money with him. Tommy whacked Billy Batts(Frank Vincent), a made guy for disrespecting him at Henry's club. Batt's crew gets back at Tommy. At the end of the movie Henry gets caught for drug dealing and has to choose whether to go to jail or go into the witness protection program.
This movie is a very good mob movie. It has a diverse and stimulating soundtrack. Great acting from Deniro and Pesci, interesting characters like Jimmy Two Times, Tommy, Jimmy, Tutti and all the other excentric gangsters. There is some great black humour in the movie, mostly centered around Joe Pesci, with some famous scenes, like the "Funny" scene. This is my favourite gangster movie out of all and I've scene Hoodlum, The Godfather Series, Scarface, Donny Brasco, The Untouchables, Resevoir Dogs and many more. My favourite scenes include, when Sunshine of Your Love starts playing, when Jimmy is going to whack Morrie, when Henry and Tommy pull out of the driveway after talking to Karen's mother, the prison scenes making food, and making Pauly's phone calls for him. So if you like mob movies, this is a must see.
