American Psycho

American Psycho is the story of the crazed high-power businessman Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale). Bateman and his buddies Timothy Bryce (Justin Theroux), Craig McDermott (Josh Lucas) and David Van Patten (Bill Sage) like to go to expensive fancy resturants and to nightclubs and do cocaine. They all sleep with each others wives/girlfriends unless they are gay. Patrick has a girlfriend Evelyn Williams (Resse Witherspoon) and a mistress Courtney Rawlinson (Samantha Mathis) whose boyfriend is Luis Carruthers (Matt Ross). Patrick also tried to pick up his secretary Jean (Chlo� Sevigny) and various hookers and an old college friend.

Patrick is conflicted through the whole movie with a need to fit in and be deemed "normal" by society, he also wants to have the best of EVERYTHING, while trying to control his intolerable blood lust. Patrick starts cracking even more than usual and his killing just gets out of hand. Besides killing models and hookers and bums, Patrick starts going on a crazy killing spree, killing virtually everyone he sees, including a shoot out with the police.

This movie is one of my personal favourites. You have to be a certain kind of person to enjoy this movie. It is extremely violent and deals with alot of taboo subjects. Patrick is an amazing character with crazy quirks that keep the viewer entertained. When I first watched this movie, I was blown away, I found it so hilarious. After watching this movie, you almost feel bad for laughing, because it is such a terrible black comedy. You begin to root for Patrick and want him to live on to kill more people. There are so many hilarious quotes for this movie some of my favourtes are "Patrick is that you", "no its not Luis you are mistaken", "I have to return some video tapes" the whole Huey Lewis and Phil collins speaches, the atm and many more. I almost died laughing at the end when Patrick went through the revolving door. I don't want to ruin it for you, so if you like dark comedies or disturbing movies like Fight Club or Resevoir Dogs you should watch this.
