1602AD

Intro.

First, let me start by telling you about how the game has affected my life… It has made me new friends and made me wake up thinking, like I had to take the dog out to make enough resources of “wood” to keep the people upgrading… Yes that was supposed to confuse you. But of course this was a drunken awaking after being forced out of bed! I used to stay up for HOURS AND HOURS playing 1602, usually starting at 6PM and ending at 5AM! That is how addictive it was…

I’ve made friends such as a certain 49 year old from New Mexico who is a great 1602 player! I’ve met girls from New York to site builders like myself. I have got my friends to playing 1602 on regular intervals… One of these un-mentioned (*cough* staff *cough*) people became so addicted he brought his laptop to school to play…

The Game

Ok, let’s start by introducing what exactly 1602 is

Platform: PC

System Reqs.: Pentium 100 Processor, 16MB RAM, 2MB PCI Graphics Card, 4-Speed CD-ROM-Drive or better, 120MB free hard disk space, SoundBlaster or 100% compatible sound card with DirectX Support, Microsoft compatible mouse, speakers.

Genre: Real-Time Strategy/ City Builder

Companies in charge: GT Interactive Software, Max Design, Sunflowers Corp.

First, the game is a European game (I love those) if you have ever played Black and White or 1503 AD those are both European also. For all the city builders out there it is a wonderful builder. And for all the Strategy Lovers it is a excellent naval/unit control game! The graphics aren’t the best out there, but for the System Requirements there pretty good. The multiplayer games are kind of complicated to set up though. For such a good game the makers should have set up a multiplayer network. The game has a few glitches too… But hey, what doesn’t?

The concept of the game is to go settle a island. With a ship and a few supplies you go off into the sea to build thriving colonies. In turn you receive compensation, which you can build even more buildings with or rule the seas with a huge fleet! In multiplayer you can show that you are better than your best friends! But remember you must take care of your people to do this.

Once you start learning to play the game your hooked. Simple as that. I have had the game for about 5 years and it still has a lot of replay value. So if you can come across a copy at Walmart or GameStop I highly recommend you buy it, it is worth it. And if you can’t find it there you can always go to ChipsBits.com.
