Losing Power - Skill Drain

Skill Drain Decks utilize the trap cards Skill Drain and Final Attack Orders to keep strong beatsticks such as Goblin Attack Force and Giant Orc in attack mode, completely bypassing their downside of switching to Defense.

At least, that's what the deck does at the most basic level. This form of Skill Drain is a little more advanced. One thing that you should know about Skill Drain is that it only negates effects that occur on the field. Effects that activate in the graveyard, such as Exiled Force, Sinister Serpent, Sangan, or Newdoria still get activated when the conditions are right. Also, costs for anything (such as Archfiends or Armor EXE) are not negated.

You can actually use a lot of different effects when Skill Drain is out. The attribute searchers such as Mystic Tomato and Giant Rat still get their effects to work when Skill Drain is out and they're destroyed through battle. Monsters that revive themselves when sent to the graveyard still get their effects. You don't have to use the generic "Beatdown" monsters for a Skill Drain deck.

Cards such as Fusilier Dragon and Cyber Dragon are two monsters that can be summoned from the hand. Cyber Dragon's special summon gives you a 2100 beatstick while allowing you to summon again. Fusilier Dragon normally gets its attack halved (to 1400), but with Skill Drain, you can summon it without a sacrifice and it will remain a 2800 monster.

Cold Wave and Wave-Motion Cannon are some great cards to add into the deck. If you know that you're going to be attacking with a LOT of monsters this turn but don't have enough m/t removal to get rid of potential threats, activate Cold Wave and stop the opponent from using that Mirror Force. Cold Wave essentially freezes the game for a turn, allowing you to attack freely and forcing your opponent to go on the defensive. Wave-Motion Cannon is GREAT for protecting necessary m/t cards. When it hits the field, the opponent generally wants to get rid of it before getting rid of anything else, effectively protecting your Skill Drain from being MST'd.

Though there are monsters stronger than Giant Orc, none of them are Dark, so they cannot be used with Deck Devastation Virus. DDV is one of the most powerful cards in the game, as most monsters played nowadays have less than 1500 attack. Not only does it destroy any monsters on the field, it also allows you to see the opponent's hand and destroy them there and if they draw one in the next three turns. Don't be afraid to sacrifice Giant Orc or Fusilier to DDV, as it's a VERY powerful card and will give you MAJOR advantage over the opponent.
