Deus Ex Machina - Machine Deck

Machines keep getting better and better. The theme that used to be straight beatdown with an amazing finishing card has now turned into a very techy deck, utilizing effects more than most decks to work towards a final push. With Cyber Dragon, Machines swarm very easily, and with Dekoichi and the newly released Cyber Phoenix they make up for the overextension just as easily. They remain a force to be reckoned with, and one should always be on guard for overextension when playing against a Machine deck.

Drillroid is a card from CRV that is seeing a LOT of play - if it attacks a Defense position monster, the card is destroyed without applying the damage calculation. Flip effects still activate, but no defense position monster is safe with Drillroid out. The main use for it is its ability to take down defense position Spirit Reapers. With 1600 attack and defense, this has decent stats to remain alive even against attack position monsters.

Cyber Phoenix is, in my opinion, one of the most gamebreaking cards to be released. It gives protection from targeting Spells and Traps to all Machines - though a lot of cards used in today's metagame don't target, the ones that do are gamebreaking to be protecting from. Sakuretsu Armor, Book of Moon, Enemy Controller, Snatch Steal, Brain Control, etc. are all dead cards to the opponent with Phoenix out. With the overuse of Cyber Dragon, Jinzo, and Dekoichi in most decks, Cyber Phoenix gives protection to these cards along with itself, and in this deck just about every monster is a Machine. Protection should never be overlooked. However, in addition to this protection, Cyber Phoenix also allows you to draw a card when its destroyed through battle. This ensures that no matter what the opponent does, Cyber Phoenix will ALWAYS be a 1 for 1 deal. In a format where Machines are very common in many decks and 1 for 1 deals reign supreme, Cyber Phoenix fits in to BOTH categories AND offers deck speed. This deck is maxing out on them.

There are some other fun cards to use in this deck. Blowback Dragon gives you the ability to destroy any card on the field. Though it relies on luck, that effect can sometimes save you from a Mirror Force or Bottomless Trap Hole. Mechanicalchaser is in for straight beatdown ability - 1850 attack can take down most monsters nowadays. You can use other cards over it if you don't like straight beatdown. Gear Golem the Moving Fortress is in for stall. Defense is a strategy that most people don't bother with anymore, but being able to stand up to Cyber Dragon is a great opening move, and it will force your opponent to totally rethink his or her strategy.

Monsters - 20 (4 Tribute, 16 Non Sacrifice)

Magic/Spells - 13

Traps - 7
