Valley of the Dead - Gravekeeper Decks

Every one of the cards to make this deck a Gravekeeper Deck is found in Pharonic Guardian. Even in Japanese, this is the only set that gives support to Gravekeepers. These decks aren't going to really evolve as time goes on; if you have a good one, it will stay solid throughout the upcoming sets.

These decks are all about Graveyard Control and Swarming. It's quite possible to get three or four Gravekeepers on the field in one turn. Necrovalley is your main card. Without it, these cards become...slightly useless. Which is why you need to protect Necrovalley at all costs. Magic Drain, Judgment of Anubis, Magic Jammer, whatever you want to protect it; just protect it. Necrovalley not only stops graveyards from being used, but it also gives all Gravekeepers 500 Attack AND Defense points. So Gravekeeper's Spy, which has 2000 defense, is able to withstand Jinzo as long as Necrovalley is on the field. I cannot stress how important Necrovalley is to this deck; you shouldn't have it by turn two, you should have it on the field and protected on the first turn.

Let me make another thing crystal clear; you only need to use four, MAYBE five of the possible Gravekeepers. Gravekeeper Spy is great for defense and swarming; her flip effect allows you to special summon a Gravekeeper from your deck in face up attack or defense position. Gravekeeper Spear Soldier has trample (when you attack with a higher attack than an opponent monster's defense, deal damage anyway). Gravekeeper Assaliant switches the position of a face up monster whenever it attacks; GREAT against Berserk Gorillas, Spirit Reapers, or Monarchs. Gravekeeper Chief allows you to use your own graveyard (but your opponent's stays locked) and when it's summoned you get to revive a Gravekeeper from your Graveyard. Many decks nowadays don't use Gravekeeper's Chief, due to the fear of Snatch Steal...if your opponent takes Chief, they're able to use your graveyard while you can't.

Gravekeeper's Spy has found her way into many other decks nowadays. She offers great defense, along with speed and field advantage. However, with Nobleman of Crossout back to two, I'd advise using only two Spies and two Mystic Tomatos. Tomato can search out any of the Gravekeeper's also, and it isn't as prone to Crossout. Spirit Reaper and Newdoria are good cards to use with Mystic Tomato, so they're in as well. Note that if Dark World becomes too much of a threat, Newdorias or even Dark Jeroids would be better over Spirit Reapers.

Magician's Circle added even more speed to Gravekeeper decks. If you attack with Assailant, you can activate Magician's Circle and switch the position of an opponent's monster, and then declare an attack again after you've summoned another Gravekeeper. Injection Fairy Lily works well with Magician's Circle, which is why she's in here.

Deck Devastation Virus also works incredibly well with Gravekeeper's...with Necrovalley on the field, you're able to sacrifice Assailant or Spear Soldier to destroy any of your opponent's weaker monsters. Most decks nowadays run very few monsters with more than 1500 attack, so in many cases a well-timed DDV will win you the game.

Monsters - 17 (1 Tribute, 16 Non-Sacrifice)

Magic/Spells - 13
