Maximum Voltage - Batteryman Deck

TLM released more possible new deck types than most sets. Batteryman was one of the lucky ones to receive even more support as time went on, and with the release of EOJ people have decided to try their hand at Batteryman Decks.

There are three basic batterymen - AA, C, and D, and then one tribute monster (Super Electromagnetic Voltech Dragon, which from this point out will be referred to as "Voltech"), along with a revival card for this set. That's really all that they need.

Batteryman AA has the potential for a OTK. While all Batterymen AA are on the field in attack mode, they each raise the attack of "Batteryman AA" by 1000 points. If they are all in defense mode, they all raise the defense by 1000 points. Fairly simple - if you have one Batteryman AA on the field in attack, it has 1000 attack. If you have two, they both have 2000 attack. Three, 3000 attack. That's where the OTK comes in. By special summoning Batteryman AA with something like Battery Charger, and then playing Inferno Reckless Summon, you can summon all three Batterymen AA to the field in attack mode. Three 3000 attack monsters is VERY tempting to most people, and many build their Batteryman decks SOLELY around this concept. Inferno Reckless Summoning is in here, but it's an alternate win condition.

Batteryman C has one of the more...useless effects out of all the Batterymen. The same deal as Batteryman AA applies - all the Batterymen Cs need to be on the field in the same position to get the boost. However, Batteryman C raises the attack or defense of all machine monsters by 500 points for each C. All of the Batterymen are Thunder, so it does NOTHING to support this theme. Batteryman C does not even benefit from its own effect. The only reason why it's in this deck is because of Voltech Dragon.

Batteryman D has a protection effect. While it's face up on the field, no other Thunder monster can be attacked except for Batteryman D. With a defense of 1900, it can stand up to a LOT of monsters, and can definitely protect your Batteries from being nailed by other monsters.

Voltech Dragon is the trump card of this deck. It's normally a 5* monster with 2400 attack, which is very nice this format - it can tie monarchs. If you tribute a Batteryman to summon it however, another effect gets added to it. By tributing Batteryman AA, Voltech Dragon will gain 1000 attack points. Be careful - 3400 is tempting, but it's VERY powerful, and that's just begging to be Snatched. By sacrificing a Batteryman C, Voltech Dragon gains pierce - it deals damage when attacking a defense position monster as if it was in attack mode. By sacrificing a Batteryman D, you can negate a Spell or Trap card that targets Voltech Dragon. Personally, I like the negation and the piercing, as 3400 attack is just unnecessary. But Voltech is a very versatile card, and you should use it wisely.

As Battery Charger would suggest, this is the last of the support for the Batterymen. Personally, I think that this can be a very fun deck when played correctly. The OTK just doesn't appeal to me. Regardless, casual Yu-Gi-Oh! players now have another deck they can toy around with.

Monsters - 20 (4 Tribute, 16 Non-Sacrifice)
