In the days of Terra, the Army of the Absolute, formerly the Terran Armed Forces, acted as the international army to protect the planet from any foreign object and threats of peace on the planet. Through time, the Army of the Absolute's presence was hindered with the rule of the Camerons, the creation of the corrupt Star League, and the formation of ComStar and the houses. The Army was pushed back from being a Terran military organization to occupying the periphery of the Inner Sphere. The Succession Wars created havoc for the Army of the Absolute, chipping away from the already weakened military. The final blow was Comstar, with help from other mercenaries and pirates, forcing the Army to inhabit outside of the Inner Sphere.

The military unit moved all its resources, weapons, and service people to New Turin and its neighboring planets. This group of planets is located in the New Colony Region. While in the rimward areas, the Army of the Absolute was harassed constantly by pirate and bandit raids. Frustrated with the troubles of a periphery-based system, the leaders of the Army resorted to leaving Inner Sphere space in search of a better life...as a clan. After decades, the Army of the Absolute suddenly disappeared from all communication arrays, striking fear in the Inner Sphere, ComStar, and the Clans as to what this mighty force might do. Although unknown about their whereabouts, all people in the universe know that the Army of the Absolute had a mission to return to Terra and act as the rightful military force of the planet, as it once was as the Terran Armed Forces.
