I pre-ordered a black Cube plus 3 games. Now I wish I got the default, indigo Cube, just because it's the original color of the system, and because it would go nicely with my indigo GBA :P. It's hard to believe that there's a system and controller in this tiny box, but that's the miracle occasionally known as Nintendo. The machine is incredibly small. The memory card is a little thicker than a cheese-it cracker. It's the exact opposite of the mammoth X-Box. Unfortunately, like all of it's former ilk, there is no RGB setup for this system. However, there is a "digital out" for use with HDTV's. I don't see myself getting an HDTV anytime soon, but with the loss of my 19", it wouldn't be completely out of the question. Just no money for it at present XP. The disks are mini-DVD's. They are one gig in storage size, similar to DreamCast GDs. Funny thing is, I knew about the (actual) disk size long ago, but it still doesn't prepare you for when you're holding the thing in your hands. Every time I change games, I get a stupid grin on my face, like, how do they cram all that gram? The system menus are great. Very well designed stuff. Miles ahead of that garbage on the PS2. There are even brief descriptions of the games currently in the drive. Mostly Nintendo-made games, but I believe Rogue Leader had one too. Weird thing someone found was that the default setting for the internal calendar was the year 2148, but the machine will only let you raise the year up to 2099 if you do it by yourself. Strange. There is already a territory mod for the system, and as soon as, say, Soul Calibur 2 comes out, I'll get one done. The opening splash screen is what I hoped it would be from that promo video at E3. I love it. Something I noticed recently was that the system either reads the disks backwards or the place on the disk where the machine verifies if the game is legit is on the outside. Whichever, the lens on boot-up moves to the outside of the disk. If the disk is actually read backwards, this would be a good attempt to thwart bootlegging as I don't believe there is any way in writing a CD backwards. For home use that is...
